Editorial Reviews

Debut album from vocalist features standards from the great American songbook, made into her own unique style - she resembles the sound of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn & Peggy Lee Village. ...Of the new wingers who turned up, the one I most anticipate hearing next year is Paula West...TEMPTATION takes risks with repertoire... 5.0 out of 5 stars Go West, February 12, 2001
By

Of all the "new" crop of jazz artists, when Paula West sings, she demands that you take note. Her vocal control, her purity of tone, and her overall presence comes through on every track of this incredible CD. She combines standards from the world of pop and jazz abandoning over-embellished arrangements in favor of simple accompaniments that let her, and only her, shine through. Whether you're new to jazz or a seasoned fan, you'll love Paula West.

What a great voice. She does very interesting and wonderful arrangements of standards. She's extremely entertaining in concert, very personable. It all translates well to the CD too.

Everything is great, but "You'll See" gives me chills. I bought this after seeing her at the Plush Room in SF. Her personality is as warm & engaging as her voice. What a find!
