Book Description

Business? Meet pleasure…

The Renaldis, Book 1

Paige Stewart has committed the ultimate nanny sin—she’s fallen in love with her boss. She adores Matteo Renaldi’s sweet, precocious son. Who wouldn’t? But it’s torture going about her day-to-day tasks, catching fleeting glimpses of the boy’s enigmatic father. Chastising herself for fantasizing she’s in the Renaldi master bed…

It’s ridiculous, pointless. After all, soon little Matty won’t need her anymore and she’ll move on.

Matteo has no interest in dating. He’s consumed by work, his son…and his son’s nanny. She’s everything he’s not: young, carefree, trusting, maybe a little naïve. She deserves better than an embittered widower. Yet when she accidentally falls into his arms, he can’t resist drawing her in for a kiss that quickly spirals out of control.

As they travel to his family’s home in Italy and slowly fall in love, the whispers start. And when one particularly ugly story blows up in their faces, their reputations might escape unscathed, but their hearts may not…

Warning: The sexy, grumpy Italian hero is finally won over by his son’s sweetly beautiful nanny—though it was quite the challenge for her to catch him. Watch for lots of high drama, passionate love and malicious rumors before these two can find their HEA.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needed more to FEEL with the characters July 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The fact that there was a child that played an important part in this story was a plus for me because you hardly ever see stories like that, and in reality single parents are a very common thing for whatever reason. I really like that Karen had this aspect in her book. I love the relationship that Matty and Paige build up and it was sweet to see him care so much for his nanny.

The down fall of this book is that I just couldn't get an emotional connection to the characters. There were many parts of the story that were just skipped over, parts that I felt needed to be there. One of the most disappointing ones being when Matteo was actually courting Paige. I was shocked to find that we just skipped over all of that. I NEEDED to know about that to make a connection to these characters and to feel like they were fighting for something genuine, something that really meant something to them in their hearts rather than the lust that they are always talking about.

There is a lot of angst in this book, a little bit too much for my taste. The both of them went back and forth so much it was exhausting. I mean I am all about angst but I need a balance of the unsure with a little bit of feeling the raw emotions that they are going through. I was TOLD what they felt rather than being able to FEEL what they felt.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not tempted-needed more July 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really wanted to like this story. There is a widower, a cute kid, and a great family, but not much of romance involved. Listen, we have all read these books, we love the quirk, the romantic, the hot, the good and bad. This one had a pinch of something here and there and that was it. We start the story in the middle, we know these two are attracted to eachother, but we don't know why. Yes, we are told why, but in their interactions, the chemistry is just not there. She is good with his kid, so he loves her? I don't think so. The conflict is so far fetched that you start wondering well if thats the only hurdle what was holding them back? I think the storyline needed to be more through. If we had more, we could like it more. Its well written, but there were a few parts where I wondered if Matteo really loved Paige or just didn't know what to do without her, so she was just convenient. Could of been great, but just fell short.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sorry, but I was disappointed... July 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the free prequel to this novel and was excited to read Tempted By Her Boss. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would.

***Possible spoilers below***

What I didn't like:

1. You are told about the so called connection that developed between the characters, instead of getting to experience it through conversation or actions. That's what I love most about romance books, or any book for that matter. The witty, intelligent conversations that make you believe the characters have a connection.

2. I felt Paige's character came off more insecure than anything. And that's probably because we get to read about all her insecurities, but don't get to experience any of her positive aspects. So, when she has these moments of bold behavior, it didn't feel real.

3. The way the villains were incorporated into the story towards the end felt odd.

4. The climax at the end of the book was a little too cliche. Matteo was a complete jerk and then Paige acts like a doormat. And I swear to god, the number one thing that makes me go insane when reading a romance book is when the heroine starts apologizing when she was the victim.

2.0 out of 5 stars lame October 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This seems like a forced weird romance. For crying out loud the long drawn out story line is frustrating and lame.

Thought I'd give her a second chance, but this is the last chance :(

So not worth it. I did not even finish it because I didn't care at all about the characters. The guy was so not worth it and she did not seem to think she deserved better.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Renaldis - Passion and Love July 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Karen Erickson has given us a wonderful start to her new series. The Renaldis are a volatile family who fight for what they want. Paige is the nanny for Matty who lost his mother. She loves her small charge as if he were her own. She knows that you never mix business and pleasure but she is drawn to Matty's handsome, brooding father, Matteo Renaldis, as he is to her. What follows is a sexy, wild ride as these two vulnerable people discover that rules are made to be broken. Add to the mix Matteo's distrustful brothers, a vengeful woman and her lecherous husband and you have high drama. Can these lovers' work through the pain and misunderstanding to find a HEA? What a wonderful summer escape. I can't wait for the next story. This family is addictive.

1.0 out of 5 stars Girl chases guys... March 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
i dont like these types of stories, it makes the heroine seem desperate. Maybe im old fashioned, but i like the guy to be the one that chases the girl. Or at least that both people be cautious about the relationship, but i dont like it when its the girl chasing the guy, and he pushes her away, the desperation is awkward to read.

the guy was madly in love with his first wife, but then felt no passion for her randomly and neglected her. whats going to be different now? he even called his first wife a worthless human being, and he believes the stories of the heroine seducing the husband in one of her nanny jobs.

so he basically sees the heroine as a whore and his first wife as worthless. supposedly his neglect caused her to be cold and a bad mother. wonder why these women even want this jerk... she even tells him that the guy tried to rape her, and his answer is that he is worried about the scandal. 0_0 what woman would stay with a man that is more concerned with his reputation than whether or not the woman he loves was almost raped???
