Has Dani found her Soulmate?, June 29, 2007
What a wonderful conclusion to the Buchanan series! All 3 brothers, Cal & Walker & Reid have found their soulmates so Dani would like to, too.
It's been a lousy year she hasn't had the best of luck with men. There was that lousy cheating husband that she divorced, that charming but married man then to top it off the ex-priest who was a nice man but wanted Dani to help him there this hard time for him LOL
Dani finds out she isn't a Buchanan really. Her mother had an affair with a this man and she was the outcome of the affair. The Buchanan grandmother, Gloria, has finally told her in a very cruel way of this but now Gloria is trying to be a nice and kind person after her death scare and tells her the man's name. Dani can hardly believe it but does go looking for him.
The story opens with Dani and the adopted son, Alex, of the U.S. Senator Mark Canfield going round and round with sparks flying when she is trying to see the Senator without telling the exact reason she'd like to see him. The Senator happens upon this exchange and hears Dani say the Senator may be her birth father. The Senator is exploring running for President and this will be not a good thing to come out.
Dani meets the Senator but thought there would be an instant feeling of love and understanding but there isn't on her part. The Senator wants to talk about her mother-he doesn't even know Dani can hardly remember her.
The Senator has been married to Katherine since right after Marsha broke off their affair. Katherine and he have adopted 8 children, most with special needs, and have enjoyed their life together even though he has been a politician most of it. Mark wants Dani to be part of his life and Katherine has to learn to like Dani. Dani admires Katherine so much she doesn't even realize that Katherine has her reservations about this *new* daughter. Dani's not sure she needs this new family though.
Dani and Alex try to ignore each other, really even with the sparks flying. They both see what a mess this would create for Mark and Katherine.
This is the story of Dani finding her soulmate and Alex learning to love again with all his heart. This book made me cry, laugh and love each character and there are so many to care about. Katherine and her children are so special Dani can only love them.
As with all of Ms Mallery's book this is a fun and loving book. I've enjoyed all 4 of the Buchanan books DELICIOUS (Cal & Penny),
IRRESISTABLE (Walker & Elissa), SIZZLING (Reid & Lori) and now TEMPTING. I recommend them!

Dissapointing, November 25, 2007
I know I'm in the minority with this review, but I really disliked this book. This book shows Dani Buchannan finding her biological father and falling in love with her father's adopted son.
I thought there was no spark between the heroine and the hero, and that the writing was horrible. For example, when Dani calls Alex 'dragon boy'. I thought that was rather..lame. I thought Katherine's and the Senator's relationship could have been fleshed out more, and that Katherine should have left him in the end. Yes, I was hoping for a seperation in a romance novel.
I thought Dani was stupid for believing Fiona, Alex's ex. But hey, what's a romance without a silly misunderstanding and a silly heroine. I thought Alex was silly for not letting his family know that Fiona was a cheating psychopath, or what ever mental ill.
I thought it was silly for Alex and Dani to worry about the campaign because of her discovery, then decide to have 'hot monkey sex'. I thought it was lame for Susan Mallery to have her heroine use that phrase.
In closing, I also think it lame that I will get inundated with 'no helps' just because I'm writing an honest (if simple sounding) review.
Sorry guys, this book IMO, deserves 1 star.

Fitting conclusion to the Buchanan series, July 10, 2007
In the previous Buchanan books, it was revealed that Dani Buchanan was the result of an affair her mother had with Senator Mark Canfield, which is what caused the rift between Dani and family matriarch (and grandmother) Gloria. As Dani tries to meet her birth father, his adoptive son (and campaign manager) Alex won't let her in to meet the presidential candidate without a legitimate reason. When she drops the bombshell, Mark is accepting, while Alex and the rest of the campaign staff try to keep the revelation under wraps. Mark's long suffering wife Katherine, who was never able to bear children but adopted a brood of eight, feels that Dani is the ultimate slap in the face. When the media breaks the story, Katherine must put on the stoic face and accept Dani. When Alex and Dani act on their attraction to each other, the media catches them in an uncompromising position, adding further problems for Mark's bid for the White House, particularly when they start to fall in love.
The Buchanan brothers and the wives are back and support Dani's quest to find her birth father, while still considering her a genuine Buchanan, as Alex's ex-wife Fiona connives to break the couple apart. Also on hand is Gloria who is completely out of character, and supportive of the granddaughter she treated like crud for the first three novels. Mallery has penned a sensual and great conclusion to the Buchanan saga (after the misstep with "Sizzling") despite not remaining true to Gloria's character and an implausible request of her husband on Katherine's part.
