More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Susan Mallery has entertained millions of readers with her witty and emotional stories about women and the relationships that define their lives. She has published more than 100 romance and women's fiction novels, beginning with two books the same month when she was just out of college. Her books have spent more than 120 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list and have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestsellers list, statistically tied for #1 (THREE LITTLE WORDS, a Fool's Gold romance). Known for her keen insight into human nature and her humorous take on life, Susan Mallery has been described by RT Book Reviews as "in a class by herself!" and was featured as a Red Hot Read in Cosmopolitan Magazine. In 2013 and 2014, four of her books were named each year to Amazon's "Best Book of the Month" list.

With a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Susan is one of the few writers who can understand her royalty statement. She went on to get a Masters in Writing Popular Fiction and has extensively studied story structure in screenwriting courses, though she has no plans to write for the screen. Her goal, always, is to give readers a story that will move them, populated with characters who feel like real people.

Booklist says, "Novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and Publisher's Weekly calls her prose "luscious and provocative." Susan appreciates critical praise, but she values praise from her readers even more. She credits her successful career to the loyal readers who rush out to buy each new book on the day it's released.

With the advent of ebooks, Susan's career has soared even higher, and her books make regular appearances on both print and ebook bestsellers lists. She has embraced the Digital Age with a robust website (www.susanmallery.com), an active presence on Facebook (www.facebook.com/susanmallery) and a free Susan Mallery app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices (www.mobileroadie.com/apps/susanmallery). At www.foolsgoldca.com, she also provides bonus content such as after-the-happily-ever-after updates for the Fool's Gold romances, her most popular ongoing series.

Born and raised in California, Susan lives with her family in Seattle, where she survives the dreary days of winter with the help of a "happy lamp" and plenty of coffee.

Reissued in "Intimate Danger" duet from Harlequin By Request in 2002.

Faith Newlin is the director of a non-profit feline rescue way station; big cats are healed, rehabilitated or just moved on to their next home after a stopover at the station. Faith loves her work but she wants to open a facility to breed snow leopards in North Dakota someday. It'll take a lot of money and filling out a mountain of paperwork to meet all the bureaucratic guidelines.

The last thing she needs is a pair of rare white tiger cubs. They were rescued from a smuggler who was bringing them to a big game collector in the U.S. As a favor to a friend in the government she agrees to keep the cubs until a new home can be arranged for them. The friend sends Cort Hollenbeck, a government agent, along to provide security at the way station.

Cort needs time to heal from his last assignment, a mission that wounded his body and blanked his memory. In a very short time Cort discovers Faith is not the plain, easy to forget woman he thought she was. Instead she's a strong, dedicated and determined woman with more courage than most people have.

Set somewhere in the California mountains, the endangered species recovery storyline was great. Terrific interaction between Cort and Faith. Also Cort's flaws and Faith's acceptance and forgiveness of them are very well done. Can't think of a thing I'd change.

Why would two baby white tigers merit high-level government security and why would people kill over them? Regardless o your answer--and I do not have one--the plot provided an interesting storyline and backdrop for romance as only Susan Mallery can provide.
This was an interesting little novel and one that can help the reader pass a quiet summer afternoon. Not bad.

Susan Mallery has crafted a well balanced story with intriguing characters and the right amount of suspense. There is not much sexual content until near the end of the book which I found disappointing. I like spicier books and usually Ms Mallery delivers more heat than this book contained, On a scale of 1 to 10 the hero gets a 10 and the heroine, situation, emotion, writers' style rate an 8 and sexual content 7.

Okay book but I have noticed all of her books keep getting shorter, so not sure it's really worth the amount of money for the books anymore and the story line once again seems the same with just different professions. What once was a great Author has turned in to me asking myself if I really want to waste that much money for 30 minutes of reading.

This Susan Mallery is on par with her other novels about warriors and/or broken down heroes. The storyline is well written, seems well researched, if not particularly believable. The romance seemed a bit forced and rushed, but the story had her usual smoothness and witty characters. Not her worst or best work overall, it was so-so.

I loved this book. It is about a woman who manages a way station for large cats, and needed protection because of having kittens that were brought into th country illegally. Well worth reading.
