Great!,

This review is from: Tempting Kate (Harlequin Historical Romance) (Paperback)
This was the very first book that started me off in the direction of romance novels. I started at 10pm one night, and didn't finish until 4am. I refused to put it down. I thought that the book was excellently written. I truly felt each character's emotions. I was also laughing out loud at many of the scenes. I liked Kate's character, although I wish she would have told Wroth off a little more. Especially since her character was a spunky one. I've read this book 3 times over already. I find that there is the same amount of enjoyment each time. It's a truly wonderful love story.

This review is from: Tempting Kate (Harlequin Historical Romance) (Paperback)
Kate Courtland was attempting to get some satisfaction from the man thought responsible for impregnating and abandoning her sister - only to find out that she had accidentally shot the wrong man! In an attempt to right her error she then abducted him from his London townhouse so that she could tend his wound at her impoverished country estate. The lovely Kate in tending after the Marquis saw more of him than she should have - indeed MUCH more than she should have and felt the loss of some of her strong defenses against an attraction that she knows would come of naught. But then, the very able, strong and self-controlled Marquis of Wroth strong defenses seemed to be shattered as well from this violet eyed hoyden! Wonderfully sensual reading! Definitely a page turner and quite tempting is this novel from the adept writing skills of Ms. Simmons - Find it, read it and thoroughly enjoy this romp!

Kate is out to make the man pay for abandoning her pregnant sister. Sneaking into the Marquis of Wroths' home dressed as a lad, she boldly threatens him. During a struggle, a shot is fired and the Earl is wounded. Feeling slightly guilty, she whisks him away to her dilapidated country estate to tend to his wounds. As he slowly recovers, she discovers that -GASP!- he is not the perpetrator who seduced her sister. Wroth is not amused at being shot but this delectable little head strong woman has peaked his his interest north and south in his body. And now he has to unravel the mystery of the man who is impersonating him and why two young daughters of an Earl are fending for themselves at an old country estate.
I really liked this one. Two very headstrong people falling in love is one of my favorite story lines. The only problem here for me was that Wroth as a little too cold for too long (nearly till the end!) and kept denying to himself that he was in love like it was some sort of horrible weakness to admit to Kate. Kate wasn't much better, not as if she would be the first one to admit her feelings (which -argh!- she never does btw!). A little bit more softness or tenderness in the book would have been better. Wroth was a bit too gruff, but I loved him nonetheless. Great book! Worth hunting down

Another well written book from Ms. Simmons. I agree with one of the other reviewers, that Wroth stayed cold for too long in the book and Kate never proclaimed her love for him. Even so,it was a lovely regency romp. Had me laughing a few times. I just loved Tom also, he had quite the sense of humor and was the cause of my laughter. Without giving away the reasons, Tom had fun with Wroth's valets name, have to read the book to find out how.
