Lovely, but can be confusing to read to a group,
This review is from: Ten in the Bed: (Hardcover)
I absolutely love Jane Cabrera's illustrations. They are as cuddly as you can get and still be two-dimensional! The young children I teach like this book, but I have one tiny problem with it. Because there's so much going on visually, with the stuffed animals dressed up to represent different occupations, the children have a lot of observations to make and things they want to ask about. Which is great, but if you're reading to a group you can't be stopping every minute to have a discussion. I do get around it by telling children ahead of time that we'll talk about the book after we read it, but it's probably better suited to a one-on-one reading (I'd think it's ideal for bedtime).

So they were ten in the bed, and the little one said "move over"...
From there every page creates a scenery for a new animal to fall from the bed. The illustrations are beautiful, colorful and funny (they're copies of paintings so you see the strokes) and the theme on each page will spark discussions with your little one. (My daughter loves to look for the little details on each page). A great bedtime story !

This review is from: Ten in the Bed (Jane Cabrera Board Books) (Board book)
My 2 year old loves this book. We got it out of the library and have renewed it constantly for about a year now. I finally decided we needed a copy of our own. The illustrations are so colorful in this book and it is sturdy as a board book should be. My daughter likes to read it to me too. (As a I type this, my daughter came up next to me and seeing the book's image on the screen started singing, "Roll over, roll over".) My only minor (and I stress minor) complaint is that is says "move over" instead of "roll over", which is what I grew up with and which I taught my kids before this book. We still say roll over, but as the girls start reading, it could get confusing. I realize this is on me, not the book. I still purchased it though because the pluses far outweigh that one point.

Great for babies, the sing song and picture colors keeps my baby interested over and over. Buying it in the board book is a good idea.

This is such a great book! I sing it to my kids, and they all love it- ages 4, 2, and 1! We had the soft cover copy for a few years and it fell apart. The hard cover is slightly larger and beautiful! The illustrations are bright and intriguing, and the details make for great in between conversation.

When I saw this book, I couldn't resist getting it for my grandchild. It was a favorite of mine when I was young. I am veryt pleased with my purchase. It came on time and was in good condition.

Poor example of writing for a child,

I know the "Ten in the Bed" isn't original but the ending was poor writing. If they ALL went to sleep then why is the little one talking?
