Great book!, April 28, 2006
This review is from: The Ten Commitments: Translating Good Intentions into Great Choices (Hardcover)
This is a great book! Simple, practical and profound, this book is for people who are ready to take responsibility for writing their own life story. Rather than acting or reacting based upon external pressure we are challenged to turn within, find our truth and act from a place of commitment.
Author, David Simon, writes that "this book is for those who can embrace the idea that free will is the greatest gift to humanity, and that despite what has happened up until now, we are capable of writing a better next chapter." Reframing the Ten Commandments into commitments he suggests that we claim our ability to consciously choose through acts of personal commitment to principles such as authenticity, freedom and truth and includes practical steps to help in maintaining those commitments. The idea is not that it's always easy or that we all immediately become saints, but rather that the internal shift towards accepting our own power to choose creates the potential to write the kind of life story all of us dream of, a story of love, compassion, abundance and truth.
Acting based upon fear of punishment is weak. Acting based upon our personal truth is powerful. This book encourages us to use the commandments as clues to find our personal truth and commit to translating those principles into action.
Amen to that.

Beautiful!, May 16, 2006
This review is from: The Ten Commitments: Translating Good Intentions into Great Choices (Hardcover)
The Ten Commitments is refreshingly clear and simple. David Simon takes the Ten Commandments and translates them into examples for positive living. Rather than the "shoulds" in life that limit us, we can choose instead look to our own internal wisdom and make commitments to ourselves which bring us more peace, happiness and abundance. This is a new classic, along the lines of "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success." You'll want to carry it with you and read it over and over again.

Life Awakening, Inspiring and Authentically Transforming, May 22, 2006
This review is from: The Ten Commitments: Translating Good Intentions into Great Choices (Hardcover)
The Ten Commitments by David Simon, MD is a profoundly life awakening, enhancing experience. It is written with depth, heart and genuinely sincere wisdom.
A couple of wonderful quoted passages from this profound book state:
"Your mind is a field of thoughts, engaging in a continuous conversation about what has happened, what is happening and what might happen to you. In response to your perpetual experiences, you make discriminations, evaluations and judgments, colored by emotional reactions."
"Your soul is the silent witness to your mind and body. . . your quietly observing soul, providing continuity to your identity. When your observing soul, thought-generating mind and physical body are aligned, you are most likely to translate your intentions into choices that result in the desired outcome.
Commitment implies action. When you make a commitment, you dedicate yourself to a course of action that you believe will result in the expansion of happiness and wellbeing."
"Commitment Versus Affirmation"
"Repeatedly affirming something seldom leads to lasting change. Successful people do not continuously tell themselves, "I am a powerful person. . . What do you want? Are you prepared to take the steps to get it?"
"In The Ten Commitments we will explore how to make good choices, not out of fear of being caught or punished, but because they reflect the person you really want to be--the sacred being you sense you are. As a result, the quiet voice of your soul that wants you to be happy, know love, feel vital, and have meaning and purpose in life will find its expression."
I highly recommend this book to any person who truly desires to live the kind of life that makes life worth living. This wonderful book will inspire you to do just that!
