Product Description

Ten Hints: Authors is a trivia game for avid readers.

In this game your goal is to identify as many authors as you can based on the hints you get about the author's biographies or their books.

Read a hint about the author, make your guess and type in the author's last name. If you are still not sure, read another hint. Just keep in mind: the more hints you use, the less points you earn. As you type, the suggestion system makes it easy for you to enter the name. The questions and hints always show up at random, so no two games are the same.

Play for ten minutes and see how well you can do. Got a high score? Enter your name and pass your Kindle to a friend, see if anybody can beat your score!

Play by yourself for high scores, or read the hints out loud to friends and make a party trivia challenge out of it.

Enjoy Ten Hints: Authors today!

5.0 out of 5 stars An intellectual oasis in a gaming wasteland March 26, 2012
The products of the casual gaming era are designed for a specific kind of audience: one with no attention span. I, on the other hand, have a vast attention span that needs more than explosions and pattern matching to keep it from wandering. Thus, if you got bored of Angry Birds and Bejeweled in the first minute of play, this is your kind of game.

The content is broad in scope with authors varying in popularity from legendary to arcane (and the same can be said for the hints), so it goes without saying that if you're a reader (especially one not limited to New York Times best sellers), you'll love this game. Also, as another reviewer said, this is definitely for those who use their smartphones less for communication and more for reading wikipedia articles. Building up to the lightbulb of dawning comprehension is amusing, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. This will be my favorite commuting activity for a LONG time.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the literature buff March 17, 2012
This is a very interesting, challenging game for anybody who likes trivia and groans when the contestants on "Jeopardy" get the word wrong. The hints you get for authors are interesting and fascinating factoids; they make you want to go and read the author's biography - or at least the Wikipedia article. The gameplay is smooth and rewarding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game. Intellectually stimulating May 13, 2012

This game is a killer. It made the day at my recent party. I bumped into this game by chance because the party was coming and I needed something to entertain my guests. Everybody was so engaged - even the kids.; I couldn't believe it. This game is not just about knowing several writers and few pieces of literature. It's about building logical conclusions and applying your intuition. It's almost like detective work, a blend of knowledge, intuition and plain logic. I'll definitely take this game on my next vacation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking This to WAN! May 10, 2012

I'm not a huge literary buff in that I LOVE reading but I didn't think I knew a lot about authors. I started playing this game thinking it could be a lot of fun to take to a writer's conference coming up in July. Let me tell ya, I enjoyed playing it by myself! The starting clues are hard but the sequential clues get easier and easier. I caught myself saying the answer out loud even though no one was in the room with me. If you know someone who likes books or are someone who likes books, check out this game. It's fun.
