Book Description

If you show, breed or race horses, or if you just like horses for the wonderful and amusing animals that they are, these tales were written for you. Whether star or bit player, the horse always relates to people and other creatures to positively effect the outcome. The Claimer: a struggling horse-trainer's daughter sacrifices for a horse of minimal value. When Bijou Ate The Beanbot Jewels: a haughty socialite encounters a unique problem. The Catchcolt: a retired mare presents a fantastic surprise. Reggie's Regiment: some secluded retirees buy a racehorse, with life-altering results. Wind: a reclusive Native American helps an underprivileged little boy learn some of life's lessons. The One That Got Away: horseplayers take a day off to go fishing, and catch a surprise. The Highwayman: at the onset of the American Revolution, there are many ways to get oneself hanged. Got Your Goat: chicanery leads to separation anxiety. Reflections Of A Warhorse: a timid foal and his young master become worldly together. One Day Of Not Playing Fair With Zachary: this horse show cheater almost always wins, with emphasis on almost. The Leetle Horse: a bonus eleventh tale, reprinted from Ten Tall Tales by R D Weilburg.

Wonderful short stories. It was one of those books that you wish had 5 more chapters to read but did not. Some of the stories ended too soon too and I found myself wondering what their next chapter could have been. A wide variety of stories and what I would call a "good read".
