PreSchool-K - From its ridiculous illustrations to its esoteric references, this silly little counting book is rife with references that will be completely lost on the "10 little monkeys" set. One wonders, in fact, what its purpose is, other than to amuse its creators and those parents who are old enough to be Elvis fans. A typical line reads, "Three little Elvi wearing blue suede shoes...one was stepped on and then there were two." Awkward rhyming, gratuitous violence, and an obtuse reference are all wrapped up in one little line. fun book for anyone who thinks Elvis lives. my boys enjoyed the performance end of it and the crazy Elvis hair and costumes.

This book is adorable. Let's face it: if you're not an Elvis fan (or shopping for one) you're probably not looking at this listing. It's a niche product and it serves that niche - the casual-to-obsessive Elvis fan - quite nicely.

Yes, just like Sesame Street and Bugs Bunny, this book includes plenty of "in" jokes that fly over the kid's heads. That didn't stop my daughter from bringing it to me, time after time, with the plea: "Elvi, Mama? Elvi, pease?"

I bought it when I was pregnant and was so excited to read it to her. In fact, I bought two copies, because I knew I'd want to give it as a gift at the next baby shower that I attended.

The illustrations are darling, the colors pop and the prose can easily sung to the tune of "HeartBreak Hotel." It certainly gave me an easy way to interest my daughter in some of the music that I love ("Sweetie, listen - this is the real Elvi, I mean Elvis") and for about a year "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" was the most-requested lullaby in my house.

Please ignore that snarky, snippy School Library Journal review. Unless you just don't care for Elvis-related products, in which case I'm thinking you probably aren't wasting your time looking at this review, anyways.

This is a great story book. Very colorful and the references to Elvis songs make it a lot of fun. We loved it... don't pay attention to the School Library Journal Review above. It sounds like the reviewer didn't have the Elvis spirit.
