About the Author
Dr. Betances is an educator whose humor and insight make him a most sought after speaker, consultant and workshop facilitator. He not only survived poverty and dropping out of school, but went on to earn a Masters and Doctorate at Harvard University. After working for the U.S. Office of Education and The National Institute of Education, he went on to teach for 23 years as a Professor of Sociology at Northeastern Illinois University. He now lectures throughout the world to public and private organizations interested in developing policies, programs and practices by which to embrace the challenge of change. His passion for youth, the promise of education, and sharing the lessons learned in his journey from Harlem to Harvard gives him the greatest satisfaction.
