Great fun book for a 4 year old,

This review is from: Ten Stinky Babies (Hardcover)
My son loves to read this book and I love that it helps him with counting. The author has created a fun, enjoyable story that really gets kids involved. I disagree with the person who said kids who did not attend daycare would not relate to the book. My son does not attend preschool or daycare yet and he understood right away. The illustrations are adorable. We stop to count the stinky babies on each page so my son gets lots of practice with his counting.

My daughter loves this book, and still likes to take it out and 'read' it at 2 1/4.
Sweet pictures of the daycare, kids, and dog. Showing different activities kids do throughout the day, helps with counting, and the rhymes are fun. It's a must read at our house (and we must read it over and over again)!

Wasn't written for me,

My son loves the book. He is almost two and can't get enough of it. Actually there are times I have to hide it because we read it at least 7x in one sitting. The problems I have with the book are really quite silly as I know I am not the target audience, but I do wonder why the toddler to adult ratio is 10:1 and why they stop to do a dance when there are 6 stinky babies. However, with the rhyme and rhythm of the book plus pictures of little people and puppies, this has become one of my son's favorite.

A Lukewarm Review,

I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about this book as other reviewers here. The rhymes aren't always spot-on, and if your child doesn't attend day care or preschool, he or she may not be able to relate that well. (The setting is a day care, and the person in charge of the kids is busy trying to change everyone's diapers.) That said, the illustrations are fun, and it's not a bad book overall. I'm just lukewarm about it.

Ten Stinky Babies is a hit with my 19 month old!,

My 19 month old daughter loves this book, it is one of her favorites. We read the story to the melody of "10 silly monkeys". She picks this one out a lot for book reading time. She enjoys pointing the dog out on the different pages, and as anyone with a toddler knows - she LOVES babies!

It is just a delightful book that anyone could share with a child. The illustrations and story are so true to life. A way to count with a child. I look forward to Ellen's next book. A collection for a grandmother's suitcase, I think.

Bought this book for my grandchildren and it was a great hit. Since then have given copies to a bunch of friends that have toddler grands that embraced it with giggles. The rhymes just flow and the counting is fun. The illustrations are irresistable. The tiny kids just like playing with the velcroe closure. I highly recommend this book.

A Warm Inviting Image of Daycare,
This review is from: Ten Stinky Babies (Hardcover)
What a sweet gem of a book with all the ingredients to make it a child's favorite. It's got a fun rhyming text that counts down from 10 to 1 that will have young children 'reading' along and on their own; the text artfully creates a portrait of daycare that shows the warmth and fun and ebb and flow of the day in such a lovely way, and the illustrations bring the story to life in a wash of colors, complete with a dog that's fun to search for from page to page. To top it all off, the book closes with a diaperesque velcro closure. I wish when my oldest child was heading off to daycare we had this book.
It's the perfect before nap book, but likely will be pulled off the shelf by toddlers at many other times.
