Other reviews have said this hearkens back to Brother, Sister, and I won't disagree. Many tracks sound reminiscent of what was heard on "Brother, Sister" and even Catch For Us The Foxes. Those yells we all love are back. Lyrically, several tracks are still down the It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright! rabbit hole, which isn't bad at all. I love the imagery, whether it be treats and foods, animals or circus attractions. Feels as though the ending of "Ten Stories" comes too quickly.

NEW LISTENER INSTRUCTIONS:
My experience with sharing mewithoutYou with friends has been this: you either love it or you hate it.
Typically, upon first listen, my friends hated it. I did too, at first. We asked "what is this?" and protested "he's not even singing!" I promise you, give the album a listen through and really listen, without distractions.
First listen to the sounds and ignore the lyrics. Let the vocals become just another instrument and forget that there are words to be heard.
Next, sit down with the lyric book and go through it again, getting into the words and artwork and feeling the life in each song.

I promise you, it's worth the two listens at least. I have been through this with many friends and I have heard thanks from all of them for introducing them to mewithoutYou.

As for Ten Stories, I love the album so far. On my second listen through aside from select tracks catching my attention. Really looking forward to the day when I'll have the time to sit down with headphones and the lyrics and listen through the album properly. The artwork looks great, once again. mewithoutYou has also once again left me wanting more and loving every minute of it.

The tracks that jumped out to me right away are Elephant in the Docks, Foxes Dream of the Log Flume, Grist for the Malady Mill, Nine Stories and All Circles.

I love the ongoing references to a relationship found through all mewithoutYou albums. If you've been with the band since the beginning then you know the story I'm talking about.
I have heard the music evolve over the years and this is my interpretation.
The sounds from A-->[to]B Life screamed of pain while "Catch for Us the Foxes" reflected recovery. "Brother, Sister" and "It's All Crazy..." focus on a redirection away from self and the healing of forgiveness from a higher power. The enjoyable part of the story that comes to Ten Stories is how Aaron writes of the "subsequent catastrophe" of his choices and his "inconveniently selective memory" years after the relationship.

I'm glad I got turned to this album, I love music that has a guy shouting and all energetic but still has the structure and melody of good music. It all comes together on this album. And the lyrics seem to be based off classic poetry and at times really pop out at you.
