When I ordered this tape, I didn't realize how old it is. The music is very slow & folksy. Bebo has a great single out right now, this is nothing like it.

I first heard Bebo Norman during last year's Third Day tour; I ordered two of his CDs the day after the concert. This recording remains my favorite, for its richness and its diversity and its marvelous "listenability".

Friends of mine who are fond of CCM often criticize Bebo for what they regard as the simplicity of his lyrics; compared to those of Jennifer Knapp or a Caedmon's Call, the words to a Bebo song are straightforward. But on clever and powerful songs like the sublime "The Hammer Holds", Bebo crafts a simple, tuneful, and deeply resonant meditation on God's sovereignty through the story of a nail that will, in due course, pierce the side of Christ. I saw many tears being wiped away when Bebo sang that live in Los Angeles a year ago; I have wiped away a few of my own while listening to that particular track.

As I went through my recent and painful divorce, this was the CD that brought me the most reassurance. In particular, the lovely "Where the Angels Sleep" and the humble "In Your Hands" brought me tremendous comfort. Perhaps these are not the most sophisticated songs I could have been listening to, but in a time of great spiritual and emotional pain we tend to seek out the familiar, the comforting, and the beautiful. This CD has become all three of these for me, and I will continue to treasure it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just close your eyes!, December 23, 1999

As with Bebo's first album, this one is no different aside from having a little more studio feel. I say close your eyes while listening to such songs as "A page is turned", or "A hammer holds". These two songs among all the rest touched me tremendously with the heartfelt lirics, as well as the incredible guitar and vocals. If you've ever wanted to see the love of Christ in a completely different prespective, listen to "A hammer holds". The incredible lirics of all twelve songs are like no other I've ever seen. Bebo is an artist who is still in touch with his fans and his art. He's the first to shake your hand, and has a genuine heart for God. I would recommend this album as well as Fabric of Verse to anyone who is looking to find Christian music that will do more than just make you feel happy. It's by far one of the best albums I have right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking..., August 12, 2003
This review is from: Ten Thousand Days (Audio CD)
I was introduced to Bebo Norman's music only a short time ago and the style and passion really do take your breath away. Here is a singer whose every words carve themselves onto your heart. They are unforgetable, they are genuine and they are stunning. His voice is soulful and gentle, with an incredible power that leaves you captivated. HIs words are poetic, and honest, and his music etches itself deep into your soul. You know, when you listen to him, that he really lives and breathes the love of the Lord God.

Quite stunning.

Bebo has my heart. A little bluesy, a little folk, a large measure of rock and pop, spin and enjoy! The emotion in his voice is incredible. The pictures he paints bring so much meaning to topics we've all grown too used to hearing. Another contemporary Christian artist worth hearing! He gets better with every album.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm hooked..., February 28, 2003

I picked this CD up after I saw Bebo opening for Third Day on their Come Together tour. I listened to the CD on the way home from the store and I just couldn't stop. Songs like "Walk Down This Mountain" and "Stand" are great inspirational songs, and songs like "A Page Is Turned" and "Deeper Still" draw on emotions that everyone can relate with. Probably one of my favorite songs of all time is "The Hammer Holds." The imagery and symbolism in this song matches that of any other songwriter ever in my opinion. I'd reccomend this CD to anyone with ears.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, June 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Ten Thousand Days (Audio CD)
A friend introduced me to Bebo, and his music is so obviously heartfelt that it speaks to anyone who listens. The Hammer Holds is my favorite on this cd, but Deeper Still and Where the Angels Sleep are both beautiful! I love it when artists write their own music--it shows that it is most definitely from the heart. I recommend his music to anyone who likes deepness in Christian music. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars best of the first three albums, August 14, 2001

this is (personally) my favorite of the first three bebo albums. i love the realness of the raw simplicity of a guy and his guitar, and it's obvious that he's spent a lot of time refining and working on some of the lyrics and music of the songs - they aren't just thrown together to get an album out that will appeal to a crowd. there's a lot of heart in each song, and every word can relate to a different part of life at any given point. they all reflect Bebo's humility before Christ in huge ways and his amazing devotion to the Lord being a real presence in his everyday life. this album is also an amazing ministry tool, because it's easy for nonChristians as well as Christians to enjoy it and relate to the lyrics. it's almost impossible not to think about the lyrics because they are so obviously personal in Bebo's life as well as paralleled in just about any individual's life. as for the msucial style or category, i would put him near to a james taylor style... mellow, but also fun, and very easy to sing along to, or just sit and listen to. great for background or intentful listening. if you're wanting to explore bebo's music, this would be the best cd to buy to start off with... i doubt that anyone could really be let down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bebo is awesome!, November 17, 1999

I first saw Bebo in concert two years ago and have met him personally. His lyrics reflect his heart for the Lord and his musical talent is some of the best I have seen. His guitar sounds and vocals are solid and heartfelt. If you want a solid CD songs 1-12, buy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Music & Powerful Lyrics, April 18, 2002

What a wonderful album! I recently had the chance to see Bebo live at a Third Day concert. I had no idea who the opening bands were, and I had no idea who he was when he came on stage. For most of his set, he played with just his acoustic guitar and I was just moved, emotionally and spirtually. He seemed very shy on stage between songs, but he truely did have a heart for worship. The day after the show I purchased his CDs because I couldn't get any of the songs he played out of my head. I've played songs for my friends and they agree that they are very, very good. I also like that even though Bebo is a Christian artist, he does have some songs on the CD that deal with other personal issues in our lives, such as relationships, family, etc. This is not a worship album, rather a album that talks about walking with God and the great things he can do for you. I'm going through a tough time in my life right now and these songs are very comforting and nurturing to listen to. Get this CD, the only thing better than it is actually seeing him perform these songs live.

5.0 out of 5 stars honest, tangible, and fun, August 25, 2001
This review is from: Ten Thousand Days (Audio CD)
I received this CD as a gift from a friend, and listened to it on a whim in December 1999. I had never even heard of Bebo, but thought I'd try it. I quickly became a huge Bebo fan. Most of my favorite CD's have spoken to me on a spiritual or emotional level: true art transcends the moment and reaches into the hearts of its audience. Bebo accomplishes this on 10 Thousand Days. Bebo's honesty in his lyrical style ("I don't know how to really love, I've never stood still for long enough . . .") is one of his endearing qualities as an artist. I had the opportunity to see him in concert about a year later--just him and an acoustic guitar--and his humility, honesty, and strong sense of his own identity drew me to him. I liken listening to this CD as hearing your best friend sing your shared experiences.
