Awesome Story of Survival,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ten Times Guilty (Kindle Edition)
Ha! My introduction to Brenda Hill came by reading her second book 'Beyond the Quiet' which I hope you all will read as it is a five star novel that was so rich with suspense I could not put it down. So, I was thrilled to find her first novel 'Ten Times Guilty' to be just as outstanding. In fact, the reader will be caught up in the suspense and wonderful characters in this awesome story of survival. Others have provided good summary of the plot, I would only add that the relationships were developed so well that I hope that there is another story of survival in the works. I want to know how Tracey does as a Mom when the role changes for her and I'm hoping Reese plays a role in her future.Highly recommend! Now I can hardly wait for Brenda Hill's newest mystery/thriller 'With Full Malice' due in 2012!

FIVE BEACON REVIEW,
By
This review is from: Ten Times Guilty (Paperback)
Tracy Michaels is a single mother with self-determination and spunk.... even if she doesn't know it. After a life changing event, Tracy is forced to come to terms with her own past in order to protect her son's future. With the help of her friends and one great police Sergeant, Tracy will take control of her destiny.
This meticulous research done for this book was obvious and impressive. The background information on rape standards was very well put together and fit perfectly into the story. And I loved the character Sergeant Reese Sanders. He was wonderfully flawed, an unlikely hero on the verge of self-destruction. Even though you are introduced to the perpetrator early on in the story, there is still the element of suspense and you will find yourself rooting for Tracy right from page one! This author has just been put on my list of favorites. I will be looking for many more books from Brenda Hill-Seaman and recommend that everyone else does too!

Review of "Ten Times Guilty." by Brenda Hill
I now have to add this title to my list of the best books I have read recently. I am sure that most reviewers are tempted to call this a thrilling and suspenseful novel. Frankly that is not enough to describe this well written novel as it is and offers so much more to it's credit. Brenda Hill has succeeded in grabbing your interest from the opening page and holding you in suspense to the end. However, she also webs a thoughtful and fascinating story with depth of character and successfully allows you to get into the mind of the criminal as well as his victims. The main theme is rape, and how the victims cope with the horrific feelings and fears in it's aftermath. Tracy has been raped and brutalized and above all threatened. Her son will die if she tells. How she copes and comes to realize what she must do to confront these threats, and go on with her life is a tribute to the writing skills and power this writer Brenda Hill has over you, her reader. Forget what you think is your favorite genre to read! Regardless, you must include this book as a must to read. A definite 5 star. It surprises me that this is not yet on the New York Times Best sellers list. I will quickly search to find more books from this author. Anne Lebrecht.

Ten Times Guilty,

You will not walk home alone for a very long time after reading Brenda
Hill's book, Ten Times Guilty. You will get inside the mind of serial killer and rapist, Karlton Wolfe, and there you will see pure evil. Not since Truman Capote's, In Cold Blood, has the mind of a maniac been more laid bare. You will go through the trauma of rape and fear of the victims. Ms. Hill has written this story with the flair of a seasoned writer, and leaves nothing out. I found myself thinking about Ten Times Guilty during the day while at work, and once I turned off the light at night, I was still going over it in my mind. Ten Times Guilty is a powerful experience, one not easily forgotten.

Victims need help,
This review is from: Ten Times Guilty (Paperback)
This carefully crafted, suspenseful story is about the victims of rape and their struggle to cope.
Brenda Hill has created a realistic drama that puts the reader in the mindset of the victim. It is not just the brutal invasion of the body, but also the emotional effects that can be debilitating from this criminal act. It is obvious that the author did much research. The perpetrator in the story has repeatedly preyed on unsuspecting and vulnerable women and will continue his criminal acts unless caught. The police are thwarted by the reluctance of the victims to identify their assailant since the fear of reprisal is very real. Although help is available to overcome this traumatic event, it is resisted out of shame and guilt. It takes a special personality to break these barriers and the characters portrayed in this role are extraordinary. I was reluctant to buy this book since it was not a genre that appealed to me. I was curious about the writing style of the author based on numerous posts where she proffered advice. Was she as good as portrayed? Would her coaching to other writers be reflected in her writing? I had to find out and I was not disappointed. Brenda Hill is good. I now want to read other books by this author. |
