My wife and I will be making a trip to Africa in April and I wanted a pack that would go into the overhead of a plane and still be able to accommodate 2 cameras with lens attached. I also wanted a pack I could mount a small tripod to. I also like the fact that I can remove the waist belt when not needed and the straps can be zipped into a compartment which I think is a really nice feature for plane travel as well.

I was going to purchase the mini version of this pack but I decided to purchase the small size instead when I decided to also purchase a netbook computer to download all the photos I will be taking as this is a photo safari, and my wife will be taking a camcorder as well. The computer compartment will easily accommodate the computer and a spare battery. I will also be taking two other lens and many small items including several batteries and memory cards and all will fit into the pack.

The pack is good looking and the side handles will make it easy to load into the overhead compartment of a plane and transport all the gear I will need into the safari vehicle. We are also planning a day trek to a native village and the pack will easily carry my photo gear and extra clothes as well. The pack is well made and thought out and small pouches such as the lens/bottle caddy, which I also purchased, can be attached to the pack for added capacity as well.

I think this pack will be ideal for our trip and the many future hikes and photo trips I am planning. I highly recommend this pack as an all around photo and general hiking pack.
