This review is from: Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Vol. 7: The Great Daluma (DVD)
In the seventh volume of this suprisingly interesting Tenchi Muyo spin-off things are finally coming to a head. In the first episode Fuku and Kiriko's new Juraian ship are merged to create a ship powerful enough to defeat the Daluma Pirate Guild once and for all. Then Seiryo is challenged to a duel with Seina to lure him out. Finally, The Galaxy Army takes possession of the now resigned Seina's ship, but something is amiss.
The more I watch this series the more I seem to like it. Not only does it have all the same hijinks that come with the name of Tenchi, but it is also a wealth of information and backstory for the flagship series, Tenchi Muyo! In this DVD we get to meet Emperor Azusa's parents, who suprisingly enough are officers in the Galaxy Police. We also learn a few other things about the Masaki Royal family, though I won't share them here. Any hardcore Tenchi fan will who wants to learn these interesting facts will just have pick up this title, as well as the rest of the series.

This review is from: Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Vol. 7: The Great Daluma (DVD)
This volume brings most of the pirate stories to an end and sets up the last events leading to the concluding volume and the end of the story lines. If you've followed the entire series, it's worth watching, but it's a bit of a letdown from the previous couple of volumes. It is nice to see the pirates mostly dismantled and particularly for Seiryo to get his comeuppance.
(Spoilers ahead) I did not enjoy the idea that the Galaxy Police's Galaxy Army division could turn into a corrupt pack of thieves and that Seina and the girls were to be used as pawns in exposing their duplicity and in bringing them down. It was nice to see some more characters from Tenchi OAV 3, like Misao (Mihoshi's brother), Masishu (his wife), and the Chobimaru. After a little more reflection, this volume was not that good, but it wasn't that bad either. Fortunately, volume 8 is a blast, and it's really necessary to see 7 to understand what's going on in 8.

Since when has it become standard or even acceptable for companies to FORCE (no skipping, no FF) you to watch trailers in the beginning of the series?! People should complain to Funimation before they do this on all their discs. Kinda makes me wish Pioneer had picked up GXP instead...
