I am amazed that this stuff really works as an african american female who suffered form hideous and painful razor bumps. I am soooo happy that I finally broke down and tried this product out for not only did it virtually illiminate my razor bumps but I no longer suffer from the severe itching of newly grown hairs and the hairs don't grow back as quickly. As I consumer I firmly believe that if a product claims to do something it should do just that which holds true for this product.

Tend Skin is really only useful for ingrown hairs. It's basically a highly effective exfoliant. It is TOTALLY WORTH THE PRICE if you get really bad ingrown hairs. I have used it for over 10 years. I get ingrown hairs from shaving my legs and waxing body hair. Tend skin makes this bearable, otherwise I'd have to go all hippie and stop shaving all together. I use it once or twice a day, especially in summer. There is another product on the market that has similar ingredients in a gel roll-on, but it isn't strong enough to work.

Drawbacks: The price, obviously. You have to use it daily, especially after waxing. It is a liquid, and most easily applied like toner with a cotton ball. If you use your hands to apply this liquid like a lotion it works, but your hands get peely skin. I like to use latex gloves. Tend Skin makes fake tanning difficult; because it exfoliates so well, your fake tan with disappear faster. It smells harsh until it dries (2 minutes) I would not use it on sensitive facial skin. And it doesn't get rid of zits, unless they are ingrown hairs. Despite what the directions indicate, it's VERY IRRITATING ON RAZOR BURN or SKIN THAT HAS JUST BEEN SHAVED.

First off, to all those saying it's too expensive, it's really not if you use it correctly!
You don't have to use a lot of it in order for it to work! I've had a bottle that I use everyday and It's lasted me a full three months. LESS IS MORE! when applying it, put just enough on a cotton ball and dab it across the entire area that needs it.

Anywho, This product does work, and yes it does kinda sting at first and has a not so pleasant smell. HOWEVER, over time, with consistent use it won't sting as much, and it really doesn't smell all THAT bad.

I am a black man that has suffered from terrible razor bumps due to wet shaving on my face and neck. This stuff is one of the only products (next to Barc Bump Down) I've used that has helped clear my skin back up, and trust me I have tried damn near EVERYTHING.

I first noticed results only a day after my first application, and my skin has stayed bump free since.
As a fairly hairy man, my facial hair grows very quickly. I like to keep myself closely shaven, so I shave roughly about every other day.

On the days that I shave, I first take a rag and run it under some hot water. I then place the rag on the areas of my face and neck I plan to shave and let it set for about a minute to help loosen up the hairs and open the pores. I then shave, after shaving I wash my entire face and neck with a deep cleanser or an exfoliator and pat dry. I then use the TEND SKIN, by placing just enough to lightly soak a cotton ball and dab it across my entire face and neck. Like I said earlier you don't need to use a lot for it to work! matter of fact, if you use too much it can dry your skin out terribly and probably make matters worse!

Several minutes after the area is dry, I apply a moisturizer.

A long backstory:
A terrible combination of things to have, is a permanent state of "warm" (sweaty) and having extremely thin hair. Ever since I started shaving 16 years ago, I've developed an embarrassing, annoying, and painful condition called Folliculitis. Google it, it's pretty. All over my legs I have, essentially, a severe case of ingrown hairs. The *entire* length of both outside calves and inside thighs are the worst, nearly every square *millimeter* covered in scars or abrasions or both. If I'm lucky, I can shave once a month. I'm not normally that lucky. When I do shave, I get a good day of mild pain (from not shaving more than monthly lol), and then for the next 2 days, I will be in severe pain, and then the next 3 weeks I'll be "recovering" as my hairs go thru the cycle of getting trapped, tweezed, and then healing. Recently, I tried shaving twice in two weeks, and suffered the worst outbreak I've had in years. This isn't just an inconvenience, sure I have only worn shorts in public once in 10 years (and even then was just for an hour), but I can't even wear jeans for more than a few hours because it aggravates it. The one time I had to wear a swimsuit got me constant stares as I'm sure everyone in the hot-tub worried I had some nasty rash that would spread. Every doctor who has seen my lower legs all ask about it. Even the same doctor from year to year.

I know you have advice that will help me. Believe me, everyone has advice for treating their mild occasional ingrown hair problem. But understand I've been living with this daily for 16 years, and until you've had 3 boils on your legs simultaneously, please don't patronize my pain by suggesting a "sensitive skin" shave gel or the sort. I've done it all.
