I received this, purchased online. Installation was somewhat confusing, especially the security features. Once installed it frequently lost connection and had to be rebooted until finally that no longer worked and I had to replace it. I cannot recommend this product.

I just picked up this router at a local store here for $19.99. The price absolutely cannot be beat. Installation was as easy as any other wireless router I've owned. Was up and running within 5 minutes. The main reason I purchased this was my Magnavox Blu-Ray player is wireless capable, but my Linksys G router was not fast enough to keep up with the streaming of video.
As soon as I tried this router, all the buffering problems went away!
Video is clear and buffer-free, even running HD video. So far so good!
My laptops all connect to it with no problems, and the signal is clear and strong throughout the house.

As a computer repairman for over ten years, I'm quite knowledgable when it comes to routers. I have used most of them. However I was happily surprised to see that this Tenda wireless router is preforming above expectations, It was inexpensive and I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tenda (Not a Game) W268R Wireless N Router...Sweet!, April 25, 2011

Received my Tenda W268R Router fast enough, set-up a few days later and am pleased my unit appears factory new and is working as expected. This was an impulse buy so, I took the time to read everything and set-up was a breeze. It's not necessary to use the set-up CD...if you know your settings for the router firmware, enter them and you're up and running quickly, smoothly and securely.

The most noticeable difference (from my WRT54GL router) is the speed...doubled, nearly tripled! Transmission range isn't as broad as I had hoped but, still, a considerable increase. Otherwise, better security.

Okay, Sweet! That says it all for this low-cost router. Since it's only been a few days running now, my only concern may be longevity. I expect trouble-free performance and I'm hoping for 5-10 years of reliable service from this Tenda router. So far, overall, I am very pleased...this has been an outstanding purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Value for the price, January 25, 2012
This review is from: Tenda W268R Wireless-N Broadband Router with 4-port Switch #287052 (Electronics)
I needed to replace a wireless router to get a Wii connected using security. The W268R was the cheapest 4-port wireless router available.

I connected cables from Cable Modem to W268R WAN and my PC to a LAN port, and plugged it in. With _zero_ configuration from me, my PC could immediately get to the internet. That made it very easy to download info on getting past the Wii wi-fi security bug. (it can't use long passwords, the workaround is to enter it in hexadecimal)

It seems that there are at least 2 hardware versions, based on a Ralink and Broadcomm chipset. I upgraded to the most recent BIOS for mine (Ralink). I guessed my chipset from looking at status info.

Besides the Wii, it supports several PCs, wired and wireless, an iPhone 4S, several iPod Touches, and several Android phones. The Apple devices do not have the problems that others have described about keeping connections waking from sleep mode.

It's almost unfair to knock this thing at this price, but I have to say that the documentation is not the best. General router knowledge gets you past most things, but not all.

Setting it up as a Wireless Access Point (WAP) to extend my wireless network has been frustrating. I can't get it to use WDS protocol with my FiOS router. I've finally settled for setting up a 2nd wireless network and tieing it to the FiOS router.

Setting it up as a subnetwork with static routing also got tantalizingly close, but never fully worked. I gave up a LAN port and used the switch to tie it into the FiOS router for a single network.

There seems to be no option to turn off NAT and the firewall.

For $15, the fact that I can even be complaining about these advanced options pretty much says it all. Most users won't have to worry about it, and for the price of a pizza, they get a solid device.

Update: I was able to get WDS working. Main router connected to W268R via WAN port. Under WLAN, under WDS, set it to 'Repeater', use Open Scan, then pick the wireless network to repeat. Go back and set all the SSID, channel and Security settings the same as the main router. I was able to connect to the internet with the same WLAN credentials, with a higher reported connection speed, so it seemed to work. I still could not get it to work as a _wired_ LAN subnet once I moved it to the desired location. So, in the end, it seems like a great $15 Wireless Access Point (WAP), but a poor LAN extender. I'll be trying the TP-Link TL-WR841N next.

It is a nice router. Got it for free about a year ago and still going strong... much better than my old linksys router...Only problem is once in a while I have to turn it off and turn back again because of the signal failure... not sure why it is like that... otherwise as a free item what else one could expect...

I don't think you can find a "least" expensive alternative to this router. Set up is a breeze and the wireless strength is really exceptional. I have router in my basement where my office is and yet on the second floor, my wife's laptop reception is just great.

This review is from: Tenda W268R Wireless-N Broadband Router with 4-port Switch #287052 (Electronics)
I already upgraded my Linksys b/g router to Berklin N router in my office 2 month ago. But because my office is at one corner of the house, some area have weak signal. So I pickup this cheap Tenda to put in the upstair to cover dead spot (for several 3G cell phone). It works great. My house is wired with Eithernet. So I connect Tenda to Berklin with a switch in between. The setup took some time. But actually use the default works OK. I first turn off Tenda's DHCP and use Berklin's DHCP, but can leave both DHCP on.
