You'll Hate to Love to Hate to Love Momus,

Despise him for crooning the almost unbelievably sacreligious "God is a tender Pervert." Detest him for warbling quietly about debauchery. Loath him for his daydreams of nubile Japanese girls. Love him for his one defining asset: Genius. Not Morrissey, not Cohen, not Dylan, not Lennon, not Stuart Murdoch, Not even Elvis (well of course not), can rival this gawky and gangly man's magnitude of genius. Sure he squanders most of it on trite songs about various sins, but DAMN IF HE AIN'T GRRREAT AT IT! One visit to this man's website, and you'll realize that pop isn't all Hair, Lipstick, and Attitude. It can very well take the form of a would-be professor singing abominations and crimes alike. He's witty, he's wild, he's wonderful. Best songs: Complete History of Sexual Jealousy, Love on Ice, Ice king, Charm of Innocence, The Homo, Right Hand Heart, and Bishonen.

Fantastic Album,

I got this one many years ago and still find myself singing it every now and again. A refreshing use of technology (for its day) proving that computers and the like do not mask great songwriting and word play. A bit like a Scritti politti album without the funk/dance overtones,... and er,.. his writing is a bit more Batille than Barthes
