It's not what I'd call easy listening but the depth of the melodies and the cheerful, joyful sounds of Mr Chappell's piano are first-rate and appear to be almost perfectly matched for the piano. It's become one of my favorite CD's.

I own almost everyone of the CD's by Jim Chappell - the Tender Ritual is one of my favorites. It is expresses beauty, warmth and is perfect for any setting. He is truly an amazing and talented pianist/artist. He expresses his amazing talents through his music. Thank you for the happiness you provide through this beautiful music!

i had originally listened to two of the recordings off of this album during an april program of hearts of space..ode to an ancient silhouette was the one that always stood out and played in my head.i had taped this program had lost the tape some years ago however the song remained to play in my head .it took until jan of 2000 to finally track down which song and artist this music accompanied,and the joy of clicking on the sample of ode to an ancient silhouette and hearing the music that had been playing in my head only for quite some time now..jim chappell is amazing and thanks to amazon.com for making this possible..

Years ago a friend from Minnesota taped this album for me. He said it helped him relax during the stressful time of learning for exams and it should do the same for me. He was right! Since then this music has helped me relax in various stressful situations and I never got tired of it. I also like to listen to it at night before I go to sleep or anytime when I am in the mood for calming, soft sounds. Some time ago the original tape got more and more worn out and I tried to buy the CD. I did not find it anywhere in Germany, but luckily, during a US visit, I found it in a music store there. And now, thanks to amazon.com, purchasing other music by Jim Chappell in Germany at a reasonable price is no longer a problem.

This is definitely my favorite instrumental CD. I gave my copy of this CD to my brother years ago and never bought another one for myself. Re-listening to the track tapes on Amazon, I realized how much I missed his soothing and moving melodies. It is a wonderful CD to listen to and just relax or de-stress while in the car.

Thank you for sending the CD out quickly. Was as described. I am into New Age Jazz for listening in my massage room for client to relax, yet doesn't put me to sleep. Thanks for selling this to me.

Jim Chappell is a beautiful and fantastic musician. I love this CD. Unfortunately I need to exchange this CD. It stops and will not play on past song choice #8. I have a bit of a problem here.

Jim Chappell is my favorite piano player. I especially love the piece entitled, " Blue Racer." I first listened to that piece in Hana on the island of Maui. It captured the beauty of driving to Hana. He makes the piano cry and laugh. I have gone through two cassette tapes of Tender Rituals and I plan to buy the CD.

It was good when it came out, but at the moment I can only listen to a couple of songs on this one. I had resold this CD in the past and bought it again recently, and now I can remember why I got rid of it.

His music has progressed for the *better* since this came out and here's why. Jim is a very gifted and melodic writer, and his melodies have a difficult time surfacing in a "one man band" setting such as solo piano.

Not only that, when he has other musicians supporting him it frees him up to really express himself on the piano through the chords and structure of the songs, as well as the melody whenever that allows for it. To play like a real musician. It's all Jim's music anyways regardless of who is helping him execute it.

So I say let the caged bird(s) sing.
