5.0 out of 5 stars Thermometer is WONDERFUL!!
I recently had to use the thermometer when my little one got sick and it was easier than trying to take her temp under her arm. Since she needed soothing anyway, it was easy to keep in her mouth. Also, the pacifier that came with this set is the ONLY pacifier she'll take! I wish they sold that separately so I can have more than one. Every mom of a baby should have...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Concept, but still needs some Improvement, April 9, 2002
This review is from: TenderTykes Digital Pacifier Thermometer with Free Pacifier, White (Health and Beauty)
When I saw this listed in the baby products, I thought "What a great way to take my baby's temperature." Naturally, though, I wanted to try out the product on myself first before the time came that I would need to use it on my baby. I sucked and sucked and sucked on the digital pacifier (it says sucking must be for atleast 90 seconds), and finally after 4 minutes, the pacifier registered my temperature. Then, I used traditional oral thermometer to compare the results. The digital pacifier registered my temperature 2 degrees lower than the traditional thermometer (not a good sign, in my opinion). Needless to say, I probably will be buying another thermometer (perhaps the 3-way thermometer; can take temperature orally, rectally, or under the arm in less than 5 seconds supposedly) for my baby when the times comes. As mentioned in the title, this digital pacifier thermometer is a great concept, but still needs to be worked on.

Also, the pacifier that came with this set is the ONLY pacifier she'll take! I wish they sold that separately so I can have more than one. Every mom of a baby should have this thermometer. You also don't have to worry about adding one degree to the final reading like you do with the underarm thermometers (not that it's hard or anything...). Highly recommend this!!

3.0 out of 5 stars FRUSTRATING!, October 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: TenderTykes Digital Pacifier Thermometer with Free Pacifier, White (Health and Beauty)
While the pacifier thermometer is great in concept, it is quite bulky and larger than a regular pacifier. My daughter could not keep it in her mouth and with the slight fever and her crying, the pacifier did not read accurately. I have to use my regular thermometer. I probably wouldn't recommend it.

I think this is a wonderful concept. I requested this item on my baby shower list, and recieved it. I have yet to use this item, but the features are what attracted me. The 90 second quick read, last temperature recall, a soft musical lullaby fever alarm, water resistant, digital reading and much more. The pacifier is small enough for a newborn. The directions were simple and easy to understand. The only complaints that I do have are, there is no way you are able to replace the battery, even though it is implied it is a long-life battery. The 1-800# for the company,is no longer working and the warranty is only for one year with proof of purchase. You must also mail $3.99 for a handling charge. I would be leary of that if you are unable to contact this company with the # they provided.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, May 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: TenderTykes Digital Pacifier Thermometer with Free Pacifier, White (Health and Beauty)
This Thermometer seemed like a wonderful idea. Unfortunately, it didn't work as well as I had hoped. I tried this a couple of times when my baby was just a newborn. However, even though the package states 0-5 years this did not work for a newborn. She kept gaging on it because the nipple was too big. I didn't use it for quite some time but recently tried it again now that she is a bit bigger. She is used to a different type of pacifier so she wouldn't keep it in her mouth, which doesn't make for an accurate reading. I will give it this though, it does give me an idea of if I have anything to worry about, I tend to over react and think that she has a temperature, this will do a good enough job to let me know if she is fine or if I need to get out the dreaded "traditional" thermometer.

I registered for this item thinking it would be a great idea. I tried it out on myself, and after five minutes, it was still trying to read my temperature. I immediately returned it to the store!

I tried this out a few times on my baby, but as a breastfed baby, my daughter really did not care for bottles or pacifiers, so I ended up using a regular thermometer that you can buy at any drugstore for a couple of dollars. It might be wiser to spend the extra money on a toy to entertain your little one while you take the temperature with a regular thermometer.

1.0 out of 5 stars good idea but ..., February 14, 2004

the concept is good, but not if your child doesn't take a pacifier. my daughter sucked her thumb so I thought maybe this would work (so I wouldn't have to take it rectally) but she kept spitting it out and sucking her thumb instead. so I just gave up on it. My doctor wouldn't accept this reading anyway so it was a waste of money.(for me anyway.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not For All Babies, May 22, 2003
This review is from: TenderTykes Digital Pacifier Thermometer with Free Pacifier, White (Health and Beauty)
I have a binky thermometer that is a different brand then this one but it works the same. I bought it thinking it was a good way to take my son's temperature, but after trying to use it twice I realize I shouldn't have wasted the money on it. My son is used to latex binkies and the nipple on this thermometer is silicone so he didn't want to keep it in his mouth. It also took about 3 minutes to get a reading, not the 90 seconds the package tells you. You're far better off just getting a [$$$] rectal/oral one at your local pharmacy store.

But now when I needed it again I turned it on it came on fine but it would not read the my daughters temperature. I tryed it on myself and still it just kept blinking a "7". I am going to write to the manufacturer and see what they can do. My daughter is only 4 months old I figured this would last longer then four months and 2 trys.
