I knew nothing about this brand and took a chance based on the reviews. Ordinary NiMH 9V retail for about $10 each, so getting 4 and a charger for about $30, inclusive of S&H, is still a good deal, assuming at worst, the battery and charger are like any ordinary NiMH 9V or a simple timer based 9V charger.

The packaging and products build quality are first rate, as good as name brands like Energizer or Duracell.

Charger
It not only shuts off based on reaching the final voltage, but has a backup timer to prevent overcharging. Out of box, the batteries top up in < 1 hour, and this was confirmed because I did it 4x, one for each battery. On a depleted battery I had at home it was fully charged in under 2 hours. It does not get hot to touch. It works as described with the LED being RED when charging, and turning green when charge completed. The charger is very small and pocket sized.

Battery
9V batteries are made of multiple cells in series, it can have 6,7,8 giving a final voltage of 7.5, 8.4 and 9.6Vdc. Cheaper 9V use 6 cells, and the benefit of having more cells is that often devices powered with 9V batteries turn off when it detects low voltage, so more cells mean the battery will last longer in use, even with the same mAH. The end charge voltage of these cells are 9.7V, so one can be sure its anything but a 6 cell 9v.

I was skeptical whether these batteries were truly low self discharge. Its been about 1 mo since I charged 3 tenergy batteries and one new standard NiMH 9V together, and after this time, the standard NiMH has self discharged to 8V while these cells are still 9.7V!

I've been using one of the tenergy in a multimeter, and surprisingly it still reads full after over a month of use. When used with a 6 cell 9v NiMH it will register 50% in 2 weeks.

The Tenergy smart charger and batteries set is a convenient way to get the 9 volt batteries you need for high turnover uses. I use my set to power a few well used toys that I tired of purchasing batteries for. The charger makes relatively quick work of charging, bringing a fairly depleted battery back to full charge in 90 minutes or less. Being a "smart" charger means that if you leave the battery plugged into the charger, it will not over-charge the battery, damaging or destroying it. The nickel-metal hydride batteries put out 250 mAh, which is a bit better than your standard high energy alkaline. The chargers small size and fold away plug make it a snap to pack along even in a pocket. Indicator LEDs on the unit give charging status information while plugged in. I own three sets of these for the family and they're in constant use.

This charger is the one to get. It has lights which let you know when the batteries are fully charged, an auto shut off after 5 hours and the tenergy 9v (200 power) charged in 2 hours. Charger worked as it is supposed to and to me it was a great price. BTW 9v chargers were hard to find in local places.

Seems like a solid product, other than the fact that the contact points don't protrude out as far as a regular 9v, meaning they're not suitable for 100% of 9v applications. My smoke detectors have a little spring door that pops open, you put the battery in, and close it, which creates the necessary contact...except with these. For all other 9v applications, they seem perfectly fine.

I used this battery for wireless microphone. It charged well and turned off when charge is finished automatically.
And the battery quality also good. And it is cheap!

These batteries are used outside and they need to be recharged every other day. We thought they would last longer than that. Very frustrated.

Have used for our wireless microphones now for quite a while. There is not the "fade out" that we experienced with other batteries. We keep everything fresh, and no memory has built up so far. Easy to see when the charge is done - either red or green lights...

I use these in a TENS unit and I barely get about 30 minutes. I get about 3 hours out of basic duracel battey. Not a satisfied customer.
