Book Description

July 17, 2006
Cold-blooded as a snake and twice as deadly, Johnny Tenkiller had already more than lived up to his name by the time he was twenty-one. Now the dangerous half-breed was making tracks for the California boomtown of Bakersfield, leaving a trail of corpses behind him like split of chaw from a heavy chewer. The new City Marshall Ned Cody was damned if he's allow a kill-crazy renegade to bring death to his town. Read by Rusty Nelson. 6 CD's 6.1 Hrs.

4.0 out of 5 stars EARLY WESTERN FROM L. JAY MARTIN, September 25, 2010
By
This review is from: Tenkiller (Mass Market Paperback)
This early Zebra western was published July, 1988, and reads as well today as it did back then. Being a true fan of the old Zebra westerns of the 1980s and 90s I value many of those westerns yet today, taking one down from the shelf to re-read from time-to-time.

Reading TENKILLER recently was impressed how well written it was and how interesting the story. Johnny Tenkiller is part Indian and other vicious parts as well, by 21 he had killed in excess of that number men and women. Shooting, cutting throats, raping and robbing Tenkiller is one of the worst criminals Arizona had given birth. Now out of Yuma prison, he is moving on to Bakersfield, California, to begin anew his evil rampages. With the county law and the city law at odds Tenkiller just might be able to carry on his crimes for some time. Will the law in the form of City Marshal Ned Cody be able to bring this immoral criminal to bay? How many innocents will perish before and if he does?

A combination of suspense as well as western fiction this fine styled and interesting western from author Martin is well crafted. Not only is the notorious character of Tenkiller presented but also presented too is the tension present in past Latino California of Tenkiller's time. Most western readers will be caught up in its storyline from first page through the last. Another fine original story from those long gone publishing days of the Zebra western.

Recommended.
