5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Bob Rappaport September 20, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The first disc was really nice and romantic, but it was the 2nd CD that wrecked my heart. Especially the first song of disc two. How far WAS Colorado from where you moved? I love the Country sound (in disc two), the whiskey and drinking songs...the thanking God... but most of all; the lyrics, and the breathing of Russell Hitchcock's lower voice. The soul, the strong high vocal that sounds like a ton of french horns combined with flute AND string sections like no one else can do.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lukewarm! February 25, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
Yea like the other reviewer said, Russell has lost some of his range and power in his voice. I already knew that and didnt expect to hear the same voice as 15 or 20 years ago same as when I see him sing live. But the songs are average, some above average. Really not too far off from the last few Air Supply albums. I really haven't LOVED any new material from Air Supply since the unexpected masterpiece The Vanishing Race. But they also had some pretty decent albums in the 90's, perhaps not every song, but good stuff contained none the less. But since the 2000's, there has been nothing released by Russell Hitchcock or Graham Russell either in Air Supply or their solo stuff that I would include in my collection. But after almost 10 great album over 20 years, how much more did they have to write? Like most other song writers they have their peak and than had some comebacks and unexpected great albums. But now, this is not new music I can listen to again and again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just an attempt by an 80s pop/rock vocalist? Maybe not January 17, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I don't have a hard time believing that this album hasn't really caught up - front man of an 80s pop/rock band Air Supply (my only non-country favorite!) attempting to put out a country album. Career revival? Year right!

But if you look at and listen to the material in this album - without any bias - you'd have to wonder why this hasn't caught up.

The 2-cd set contains 20 tracks and about half of them I consider as 4.5 to 5 stars. My personal favorites are:
Cash's Last Days - talks about, well, the Man In Black's last days with such haunting words "The star will all become alight / And choose a soil on which to shine / That special space in time is about to come again / But not for me"
Fallin' - though I feel like we've heard songs like this before, this song that talks about wondering "why they call it falling" is sung with such emotion and maturity in his now-husky voice that you can't help but listen over and over again
Far Enough Away from Colorado - this is about running away...if someone else had sung this song, I think this would have hit the charts

The other half of this 20-track cd might be those that are a 3.0 or 4.0 - ok to listen to but skippable on most occasions.

Overall, this album to me is as strong a 4.0/5.0 that I've heard in some time.

Russell did a great job. This was definately a different style of singing for Russell, but I still enjoyed listening.
