Knowledge of tennis rules and strategies is very helpful. Also, as your chosen player progresses through the season, his wins and losses are reflected in various aspects of the player's game (e.g., speed, stamina, strength, serve speed and accuracy). It's really quite intriguing. Other than rest periods during court end changes (etc.), you're almost dealing with real time. If you love (or like) tennis and you have an affinity for computer games, I think you'll like this.

Less than $10 for a game like this? That is a really good deal. I must say that this game has by far one of the best visuals and graphics. Furthermore, every single point is saved, which makes it easier for you to quit without worrying at any time and get back right where you stopped playing. The rules of tennis are perfectly reflected in the game. Top Spin 2, on the other hand, had made numerous shameful errors.

This could have been the best tennis game out there. So why isn't it? Well, for one thing, there are no grand slam tournaments in the game, which would seriously stop a tennis fan from buying this game. Secondly, and more importantly, there are no women in the game. That's losing a whole large female market. This was a bad decision by Microids. If they were thinking women don't play videogames, they should have thought again. Not many female tennis fans would seriously be interested in this game.

To be entirely honest, even male tennis fans wouldn't like a tennis game without women in it. You're probably thinking "Isn't it the Masters series?" But really, why should it be titled that way? Why should it have been only the Masters tournaments?

Other options that could have made the game more exciting - Training sessions, ability to change rackets, clothing, and footwear and doubles tournaments.

All these reasons mentioned above really prevent me from giving this game a 5-star rating for this game. But if Top Spin 2 got a 4-star from me, this game definitely deserves it as much. It's just too sad though. All that hard work, and the game went nowhere. And there are no signs of any newer version of this game being produced by Microids. This game is just a sad story of poor marketing and management skills, on the part of the creators. I feel bad for the programmers of this game. Nonetheless, if you love tennis, this game is worth $10. And it's not even $10 (before taxes and shipping). And the game, as I said earlier, is the best tennis game in terms of graphics.

I totally agree with the first review. I play it all the time. I just wish it had some well-known pro players in the game.

I must say that for this game being 9 years old, it still holds up against Top Spin and other tennis games on the Xbox360. I bought this game for my PC and love it, the game play is simple and fun, lots of venues and great graphics! You can even scan your own picture and put your face on the player and create own stadiums and such. Like the other reviewers have mentioned there are no "real" players, such as Sampras, McEnroe, etc. So its not as fun beating a fictional player. You can even play others over the Internet, if anyone still plays this game. This is still the best PC Tennis game out there! So for $10 bucks or under, you can't lose.
