5.0 out of 5 stars Nino Tempo plays Tenor Saxophone at his best., September 24, 2002
This review is from: Tenor Saxophone (Audio CD)
If you like saxophone, Nino Tempo, Tenor Saxophone is the best. I like to play it to relieve stress and I play it to listen to while I am asleep.
Nino Tempo has been in several movies (as a child in "The Red Pony", and as an adult). The Video Beat website offers "Dr Pepper Celebrity Party 1963", on DVD, with Nino Tempo and his sister April Stevens performing.

Superb recording and musicality. Best among all the records of this artist. Listen to the intro of the song Masquerade and the subsequent entrance of the lady's voice and you will know it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Simply Beautiful., May 28, 2003
This review is from: Tenor Saxophone (Audio CD)
This is my second review for this because more deserves to be said about this wonderful selection of music and how beautiful Nino Tempo is on the saxophone. I first heard of Nino Tempo when American Movie Classics cable network ran an old color music clip of Nino Tempo & April Stevens singing a song I do not remember the name of. It had "mashed potatoes" in it and it was funny when Nino would do his infamous OOH! This CD does not have that song, but when I looked up Nino Tempo on the Internet, I discovered this gem, Nino Tempo--Tenor Saxophone. Nino Tempo plays saxophone so tenderly that the music carries you away somewhere else. So soothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars There isn't a track on this album that I skip over., February 16, 1999
This review is from: Tenor Saxophone (Audio CD)
Nino Tempo's tenor sax is mellow on this album. It is a collection that has become one of my favorites - one of the few that I listen to every track and enjoy. On the tracks with vocals, voice and saxophone seem to be making love, not just music. When Tempo plays alone, he makes it interesting without losing the song in excess improvisation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Music, Great for Martini Drinking or Romance, March 26, 1999

Any of my friends that listen to this love this CD. If we are having friends over for dinner, this is great music. The Masquerade song is a favorite. After listening to this, you will have to have it for your own collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Newer songs/classic sax, June 27, 2011

I bought this disc primarily for the sublime version of "This Masquerade." Nino's opening speaks volumes about love, and then the vocalist Rachele Cappelli does a fine job with the Leon Russell lyrics. I also really like the version of the soul classic "You Are Everything." Can't say that I like the way one drummer Tony Beard slaps on top of the beat, but I instead concentrate on the warm, knowing sound of the sax. Mr. Tempo in the liner notes says. "Cary Grant, you are missed." Tempo's playing has that suave masculinity (from a time when that description was high praise.) This is a wonderful weekend morning romantic disc.
