Straight Ahead no B.S., December 31, 2008
This review is from: Tenor of the Times (Audio CD)
Some of the post-Coltrane sax guys can put out some questionable albums... Worried about playing too many notes, or not enough. A lot of these guys can "over-compose" or worse "under-rehearse"... On TENOR OF THE TIMES Jerry and Company get it RIGHT, and God Bless them for it... This record is STRAIGHT AHEAD AN RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. Great acoustics from the piano and Bass and SUPER well mixed Drums!!!
It's too bad that you have to "lobby" to be nominated for a Grammy, you should just be recognized for what you have done, NOT "win a campaign.... Right??? What these guys did here is worth Grammy consideration. No B.S.
... and that's what this album is. NO B.S.

If you play tenor sax you should listen to Jerry B. He really is a tenor of our times!
