Bardovi-Harlig is Cloud Nine,
By Myrna Goldstein (Milan, Italy) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tense and Aspect in Second Language Acquisition: Form, Meaning, and Use (Language Learning Monograph) (Paperback)
I love grammar. I eat it. I sleep with it. I want to be buried with it, especially Professor Bardovi-Harlig's tome. Every time I open it, I immediately find what I want and, even better, I understand the explanations, the reasoning, the penetrating logic of it all. Really. If you are struggling with tense and aspect, this book will put you on Cloud Nine. I've been on it since she graced our Master in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language class with a lecture at Saint Michael's College in 2002. Thanks to her and to another amazing grammar professor (with whom I had the honor to study), also named Kathleen - M. Kathleen Mahnke - a veteran of Indiana University where Prof. Bardovi-Harlig hangs her hat. (Yes, I even debated changing my name to Kathleen to be able to know as much about grammar as these two giants combined.) So I'm settling for Cloud Nine.
He-llooooooooo down there! Come on up! Myrna Goldstein, B.S.J. (Northwestern University), MATESL (St. Michael's College) Founder, Director Are You in Your English File?® Second Language Learning Research Center Milan, Italy |
