5.0 out of 5 stars Great music for everyone
This has metal, rock, and everything in between. This CD grows on you so much. Since I wok at Best Buy, I hear the songs Get Up, and Ride five times a day for months on end, so it is safe to say I got sick of them. Just recently I listened to it again, and I'm in love all over again. I honestly cannot compare this CD to any other for once, which is actually pretty...

3.0 out of 5 stars theyre eccentric, but it just doesnt cut it
noise therapy intrigued me after hearing the violent "inside", i picked up the cd.i was happy at first because it was pretty violent stuff, but after a couple listens, i began to become bored and uninterested, finding myself going back to "inside" for satisfaction.not a bad cd but nothign great either.

Listen to the samles; they don't give the songs much justice, but they give you a glimpse.

Have you ever had a CD for 6 month's or so, and thought that it was a good CD.. then 1 day, you really sit down and LISTEN to it. Then you kick yourself in the arse for not realizing just how damn good the music is. Thats what happened here. Last weekend, I found out the ENTIRE CD rocks, and there is not a damn thing wrong with it. Without telling you everything about this CD, I only suggest you check out the music clips, and you will find that the clips alone will prove this to be a great CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A kick...debut from a commercial band!, April 6, 2003
This review is from: Tension (Audio CD)
These guys are so commercial but their sound is slightly different from any of the other bands out there. To me they sound a little like Sevendust. I don't know why but they sound like them. For a no-name band on a no-name label (I got a sticker with this CD saying that they are on a label called Redline and Redline also supports alot of skater companys according to the sticker) they are shockingly killer. Get this CD right away!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rock out, March 12, 2003

First off props to Noise Therapy not only for their extremely good musical skills but also for the name of their incredible band, Noise Therapy. The name fits, as you will understand when you hear Tension. It has been quite awhile since I heard music this intense and this uncomprimsing. Now I bet you are wondering, with all the praise I am giving them, why I am also giving this album 4 stars. Well I'll tell you, it's not the music or the band members' attitudes (trust me, some people dock points for albums just because they hate how the band members act), it's the lyrics. They are pretty sub-par, with cliches flying everywhere with words such as "far away" and "i cannot take this anymore." Also some statements are just repeated over and over, when its really not needed. Whoever wrote the lyrics didn't do a total crap job, but they should have put a bit more thought into the words they wrote. Other than that, Tension is a good solid effort, and well worth the money. These guys can play their instruments with acceptable precision and the singer can both scream and sing really well. All the songs on this album are entertaining as hell and if you are looking for a cd that will have you thrashing your head around in no time, you found one of them. That being said, I will give you all the low down on the songs and what I think of them:

Get Up - Their first single, and an awesome opener for the rest of the album
G Hole - A free flowing song, and also one that is easy to get into
Star 69 - Probably the heaviest song on the cd, you wouldn't think so from the first start of it.
Inside - I think it is the most complex song on the entire album, fast/slow switching rhythms galore
Yesterday - The chorus is the best part of the song, he just sings it really well. Towards the middle it gets heavy.
Ride - Definitely the simplest song on here, not much in the way of lyrics but it does have a good beat.
Monkeys - This one seems a bit out of place, but don't worry because it will keep you headbanging for days.
Far Away - Yes, a cliche, but it's my favorite song at the moment. Out of all the songs this is the one that sounds the most "digitized."
In My World - I think this is the slowest song on this cd but it's still intense as you would most likely expect.
Standing In The Dark - It's a slow song but I promise you won't get bored of it, a good ending song as well.

Well that's all I can say about this album. I suggest that after you are done reading my review that you at least download it first, I would recommend that you buy it but who knows if you will end up dissapointed. However, this is such an awesome album I can't see how anyone could be dissapointed by it. It rocks, check it out asap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Noise Therapy Live by UnRatedMagazine.com, February 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tension (Audio CD)
Noise Therapy brought their brand of hard rock remedies to The Metro Tuesday, November 26th. On tour promoting their American debut "Tension," the band has been winning over audiences with a powerful stage show and crisp musicianship. This show was no exception. Opening with the soon to be hit "Get Up," (already getting considerable airplay), the band got the house rocking. Lead vocalist Dave Ottoson simply would not tolerate a solemn crowd, actively demanding crowd surfing. The rather tame crowd seemed to be simply enjoying the tune!!!!!!! Then came "Ride," and the band shifted into kick-... gear. Wowing the crowd, we finally saw the surf. Dave's blaring vocals even managed to overcome the terrible PA system. The haunting harmonics by Kai (on guitar) and the innovative pluck style by Rob Thiessen (on bass and vocals), coupled with a driving rhythm by Bobby James (on drums) made for a performance not easily forgotten. Rounding out the sound and just plain getting into it was James P (on keyboards).
Continuing with the set, Dave showed a softer side with his vocals on "Yesterday." Coming right back was a terrific effort on "Far Away." A hard driving rhythm with talkback vocals really rocked the house. Whew!!!

Next was an invitation for all the ladies to present themselves front and center. The band went into a perfect rendition of "Star 69 (Wait for Nothing)." This could very well be their signature tune. It combines everything the band does well and provides a great presence for the stage. Very "chick friendly," I might add. The combustible coda of the tune was accented by a good toss of the drumsticks into the crowd by Bobby. The crowd wants more!

Now that everybody has caught their breath, Dave pleads (demands) for the crowd to go nuts. They do and the surfing returns when the band tears into "Inside." This is easily the best piece of the show, which is no easy task. With a fury, and much force, we are getting what we came for -- Noise Therapy. Then the big finish!!! Bobby throws his sticks in the crowd once again. Then comes the moment we weren't ready for--the show is over. Obviously the Metro stage is all business and schedule because the roadies are already tearing down the stage. Too bad. An encore would have been appropriate for the mood of the crowd.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as heavy as I hoped., December 8, 2002

When I first heard a few songs by these guys I was quite intrigued. I ordered the cd not realizing both the songs I'd heard were on the other album! Anyways, the cd turned out to be not too exciting. I've found 2 or 3 songs I really like off of it, but most of the time it's just not heavy enough(but I'm a fan of stuff like Cannibal Corpse and Slipknot). If you want something heavy, check No One. Hopefully, the previous album is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, September 20, 2002
By
This review is from: Tension (Audio CD)
I had heard from various sources that this CD would follow in the footsteps of bands like Disturbed, Flaw, and Static-X...I would say they are correct. The singing (and screaming), the riffs, the melodic sounds, and the song speed changes are second to none. Every song on the CD is great, but my favorite two songs are "Inside" and "Ride" (tracks 4 and 6 respectively). All of the songs have intelligent lyrics too, not lyrics like most death metal junk, most of the grunge [stuff] from the 90's, or even some of the recent stuff that MTV shows once in a blue moon (that's considered metal or rock anyway). If you like Disturbed, Slipknot, Flaw, or Static-X, this is a definite must buy. There is no explicit lyric warning on it either, so even the young people can buy it. I do know one thing...this CD severely rattles the windows of my 500 watt CD player in my car! A definite must have!
