A really good read,

Imagine Raymond Candler and Elmore Leonard got together to write a page turner of a novel about religious fundamentalism in many places and in many forms - Israel, the US, Kaballah, Christian Zionism, etc. Schefrin is neither of them, writes with his own voice, and has produced an entertaining and informative book which had me laughing out loud in its first pages but left me in a deeply serious and thoughtful mood by its end. It is about the world we live in, the world we might have to live in, and the world we would rather not live in.
The book is full of religious arcana, all of which is carefully researched and documented. I learned a lot and suspect you will too. I recommend it. Try it, you'll enjoy it.

EXTRAORDINARY,

The Tenth Cow is an extraordinary book which brings the reader excitement and joy. Aram Schefrin captures the "Polo Scene" in Palm Beach. He then then spins a tale of mystery and intrigue, incorporating the middle east crises, the return of the messiah, and the Kabalah. He spices the book with a touch of romance and much more. His characters are compelling and real. The descriptions of Isreal make you feel there. The result is a very enjoyable page turner which is a surprise discovery for any reader. This is a book you will not soon forget. It should be a New York Times hard cover best seller. Aram Schefrin should write more!!

Could not put this book down !
Aram Schefrin reminds me of Tom Clancey's devotion to authentic details. This is a fast moving book and has an eerie quality of mixing fiction with fact. The author's political views seem to be "right on" imho. His Marwan was also very enjoyable, but I find this one even better. I am waiting for his next book!

"Phillipe and Jorge have been given a treat with the publication of Aram Schefrin's new novel, The Tenth Cow. Schefrin places his novel in today's international Judeo/Christian political world, and delights P&J by taking the piss out of ultra-Judaism and enraptured Christians with equal fervor, humor, and mockery of the overall human condition of the 21st century. Then throw in some sex and the filthy rich Palm Beach polo set and your superior correspondents are Babes in Toyland reading this gem. Schefrin also manages to scare the bejesus out of you by presenting a scenario that is based on a good deal of truth and current events, involving more than a few religious fanatics' honest trust in an Armageddon that is right around the corner that intersects with the second coming of the Messiah. Buy your "Yahweh" t-shirts here. (In fact, if you dig into The Tenth Cow, then take a trip over to Rolling Stone correspondent Matt Taibbi's new book, The Great Derangement, for another look at this projected delusional future, courtesy of John McCain's pal, the Reverend John Hagee, his tribe of loonies and their deranged ilk.) If you want to morph into Christopher Hitchens and learn more about Judaism and Zionism than you ever thought you could in a lifetime, in the space of reading an entertaining book that will give you a few chuckles and just as many upsetting, "Hey, wait a minute, I just read something about that" moments, The Tenth Cow is just for you." - Chip Young, THE BOSTON PHOENIX
