Wrapping Things Up,
By
This review is from: The Tenth Power (Chanters of Tremaris, Book 3) (The Chanters of Trem) (Hardcover)
I loved the first two books in the series and certainly enjoyed this one too, with the reservation that some elements seemed to be rushed through. While there were plot developments I had completely failed to expect and the return of characters I had been pleased to see the back of, by the time we got to the final scenes they seemed glossed over when some quite significant events were occuring. Perhaps this trilogy ought to have been a quartet? Still, this one joins the other two in earning place on my crowded book shelves.

Wonderful ending that made me close to tears!,
This review is from: The Tenth Power (Chanters of Tremaris, Book 3) (The Chanters of Trem) (Hardcover)
I kind of found this whole series in a weird way. My mom bought me the second book at my school's book fair, little did I know that it was a sequel. I fell in love with the book and quickly got Singer of All Songs once I learned of it.
I was fascinated by this world, especially the characters. NEVER had I been so caught up in a book because of how the characters appealed to me. My favorite thing most of all was definitely Calwyn and Darrow, because I'm a sucker for romance. ; ] When I got the ending to the book, the beginning caught and held me until the very last page. I think I read it in exactly one day. Nonetheless, I loved the ending - it was a tad cliche, I will say that, and there was one bit to it I didn't really understand (readers will most likely know what this twist is, it is a death) and it seemed really off to me. But the very last page was just chilling. I had literally been waiting for the last chapter's two events all throughout the series. Despite some of the complaints already said about this third book, I LOVED IT and I'm not afraid to say that. It left me dazzled and still holds me to this moment. If you are really a true fan of this series, you should love what the ending has in store for you. 5 stars.

A great conclusion - But lacking in detail,
This review is from: The Tenth Power (Chanters of Tremaris, Book 3) (The Chanters of Trem) (Hardcover)
Warning: May contain spoilers within text
The Tenth Power written by Kate Constable is a great conclusion to the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy. In this last installment of the series, a sickness is discovered to be spreading across the land, affecting only those with the magical power of chantment. Calwyn, who in The Waterless Sea lost her powers and potential to become the Singer of All Songs, travels with two of her companions to her homeland of Antaris in the hopes that she will recover emotionally from the tragedy. However, Calwyn, Mica, and Trout are shocked when they find Antaris in ruins and the people living in fear. The worst shock comes when Marna, the High Priestess is found dying. Marna imparts important information that the world is breaking due to the breakage of a mysterious object known as "the Wheel." Meanwhile, Calwyn's love, Darrow is also traveling, searching for his long-time enemy who was found to have been alive after all. When his fervor leads him to the houses in Gellan, he soon contracts the deadly disease feared by chanters. Soon, the group rejoins at Antaris and they agree that the Wheel must be found and repaired before Tremaris becomes a desolate wasteland, devoid of magic and light. Their journey takes them into betrayal, love, joy, and even a war. This book was wonderfully written appealing to audiences captivated by magic and fantasy. The characters struggle with problems that no one else has ever faced and the dangers come alive in the readers' mind. However, as said by others, the book was very rushed and hurried. Their journey is constantly concerned with the continuous betrayal of a Keela. Keela is always betraying them and then befriending them again. There goes a large portion of the story. When Calwyn finally regains her powers, it's described in such a way that you could easily believe that she only temporarily lost them. When the final conflict with Samis is decided, it leaves the reader hanging, but never truely explains what happens to him. All of a sudden the focus of the series is gone. For the whole trilogy, the heros have been fighting Samis and his cronies and suddenly, he's wiped aside for a new conflict? I find that very poor and the change of mindset is just...numbing. By the time the story ends, Tremaris is restored and Calwyn and Darrow both recognize their feelings for each other. Sadly, an important character dies, but the novel would have been a little empty without a touch of sadness in it. Overall: While a great conclusion to the overall story, the writing and plot development was mediocre. A must read if you have already started on the first two of the series.

Kate Constable ended her epic with a very pleasing finale. There are twists, suspense and moments that fill you with elation and sadness. All loose ends are tied up and the reader is left satisfied.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Tenth Power (Chanters of Tremaris, Book 3) (The Chanters of Trem) (Hardcover)
i have read lots of interesting books like dragonsinger and the book of three but this is the best book series ever! i found the first book(the singer of all songs)at a school thing, i looked boring so i just got it, one day i had nothing to do so i started to read it and i could keep away, i begged my mom to let me by the next one and she let me, the next day i was checking here to see if there was another one, i so totally wish that this was a longer series to see what calwyn, darrow, tonno, hasala and calwyn and darrow's child to be do next. i totally recomend this book to anybody who likes magic, and has a scence of adventure and likes fantasy and science fiction. Most peeps say this is stupid but if u have what i said, then u should love this bestest of best books ever alot!

I really loved the conclusion to the spellbinding series. The ending was was very appropriate, and bittersweet, the way I like it. It was to me, just as good as, or better than the first two.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Tenth Power (Chanters of Tremaris, Book 3) (The Chanters of Trem) (Hardcover)
this book has lots of things in it that readers like me and many others would love. romance(between darrow and calwyn)challenging choices, and the main part chantment. there are lots of ?s in this book like will calwyn become the singer of all songs?(which she does)will her and darrow fall in true love? stuff like that makes readers like me,well it sends a chill down ur spine.
i think that mica, hasala, tonno, and trout and samis all play a big part in the book, but they are just there to be her friends,(except that hasala turns out to be her brother)like ron wheasly in harry potter, just there to be there. Hasala all tho plays a big part in the 3rd one because they figure out they r brother and sister.same with samis because he was origanally a enemy to darrow and the others(espically darrow or heron to him)but in the third one he plays the teacher role. the romance between darrow and calwyn in the second one and then turns around then shots back like a bullet in the 3rd. the endding is sad because of what happens to mica and everything but darrow, calwyn, tonno, and hasala go to methouris to continue the journey and darrow and calwyn r going to have a child,(i know weird) and like the stacy or stace person who put one of these, i found this wonderly wonder full series of books weirdly and suprisingly by acciedent. but i really really REALLY recommend this book to anyone with a scence of adventure, romance, and a good scence of loving and a little humor, so sorry for making this so terribly long,i always do this. |
