I was initially excited to read this book. Although the author makes a few outstanding points he has many holes in arguments and lacks in-depth information on equipment and personnel. Such statements as "Both superpowers ground force NCOs are poor and leadership among officers does not appear high." Stating that NCOs from the US Army and Soviet Army is not valid. The author also states that soldiers from the United States are below the levels of the population in learning and motivation. This was book was written in 1989 when the US Army was a professional and all volunteer force that annihilated a numerically superior force armed with Soviet weapons in 1990/91. The author could have done more in-depth study when comparing equipment. The book addresses some interesting points but is limited in its usefulness because of the biased and incorrect views the author presents.
