4.0 out of 5 stars A great retrospective, August 13, 2009
This review is from: Tenure (Audio CD)
Tenure is a compilation - best of first "ten years" of Paperboys - features songs from a number of their previous albums. It features different band line-ups and it's a great mixture of material and some inconsistencies in terms of quality of material and recording. It also includes previously unreleased material worth having. It's worth checking out all of their stuff but specially Road to Ellenside (a masterpiece imho). Blends too many styles to list but principally celtic, bluegrass and some latin. Tom Landa's vocals are reminiscent of Paul Simon at times and the original material appears to have diverse influences like Eagles, Van Morrison, Paul Simon. Great live band. Tenure has some fine moments - including a great version of Dylan's All Along the Watchtower, Santiago a Sevilla (geat spanish guitar), Jesse James/Sally Gardens(bluegrass song and irish reel) , Molinos, Living Proof and She Said and John Prine's Take the Stars out of the Window. Tremendous live band. Catchy good fun music, well played.

5.0 out of 5 stars Check out these guys, they're awesome, February 18, 2006
This review is from: Tenure (Audio CD)
Not a lot of people really listen to this style of music, but if you get the chance, then do it. This Canadian band is, in their own words, "Celtic Bluegrass Stompin' Pop". If you like pop or rock check them out. The fiddling's awesome, and so are the bagpipes.
I think this is probably the Paperboys' best CD, or at least it has the most variety. This is the one to get if it's your first. Then if you like it get Molinos and Postcards. Not Dilapidated Beauty. Don't do it unless you like jazz and are a diehard Paperboys fan.

Take a minute and listen to "In Love For Now" and "Judy's Wedding". And "Molinos" if you're still deciding.
