This is the best pump it beats the hand pump Hands Down!

After it failed I decided to open it to check the possible problem and I found out the rubber made coupling that holds the motor shaft and impeller rod was loose.

I used this unit for 5 months since purchased and after that it failed to operate. Unit usage just an average maybe 10x on and off for daily water drinking for me and my wife. After it failed I decided to open it to check the possible problem and I found out the rubber made coupling that holds the motor shaft and impeller rod was loose. I manage to put it back with some modification just to tightened the slacked hard rubber coupling. Then not only that I also found out some rust build up on the motor shafting all the way to the rubber coupling. Further check was made and noticed that when it sucks water a little amount of the liquid reaches the motor shaft and that shafting is not a stainless type of rod.

The impeller that is immersed in the water that I would say a good quality "stainless rod" and even the plastic pipe enclosure is a high grade type. If only that the stainless steel rod for the impeller is long enough and the motor shafting itself don't have the possibility of water contact when it sips the water, I think it will not be a health risk anymore due to rust water contamination. Also improved the rubber coupling for the motor and impeller.

I will not waste my money no more for this product if the design will not be altered for its durability and most important of all "health risk"!!!

Yes, I am a typical consumer who has actually purchased this item. This high-quality water pump is excellent, and note that it is SHELL PINK in color not white as the picture seems to indicate (very tasteful shade, however). In our household (very handy people), when there was nothing on the market like this, we devised something similar with parts from Radio Shack, but this is more durable and designed for the purpose. All I would add, dear Sojitech, is a momentary switch (push button) for quick use--it has only a standard on/off switch--and a drip cap to prevent unavoidable dripping (slight) once the unit is off. Overall, an excellent value that every household /office should have that uses large bottles of water, for the following reasons: (1) it uses both electricity (faster and more economical than batteries) OR battery (in case of power failure--remember your water cooler will not work without a power generator or UPS); (2) if you have a water cooler and have trouble lifting a full, 5-gal. bottle onto the top, you can buy smaller bottles to refill with this--it has a tap-sized spigot. Also, it does come with the 9v adapter although the Amazon listing does not say so. Great value. My only complaint is why did it take so long for someone to market one of these AC/DC units and make them high-quality??

The suction tube of the pump is too short for the Mountain Valley 5-gallon glass bottles. When fully inserted, the bottom of the suction tube is still about four inches from the bottom of the bottle, making it impossible to get the last gallon out of the bottle. Before buying this product, measure the length of your bottle(s) to make sure it will reach the bottom.

I am thinking differently now about this product than I did on my review almost a year ago to the day. I was careful almost all year long with this second pump in keeping the head elevated between fillings. Maybe I slipped ONCE and tipped it. I believe such vulnerability to be a design flaw, even if tipping it accounts for this second motor failure. It is too much of a coincidence that the motor has failed twice after about the same amount of time. And they raised the price too! Beware, when is starts to make a terrible, grating sound you know it is about to go. I won't buy a third one! I may try a gravity-fed holder this time.

------------------------------------
I just ordered my second one as the first one died. Why? I did not heed the warning not to let the pump lay on it side after you remove it to refill or replace the bottle. After a time--less than a year--residual water in the pump tube runs into the motor and eventually destroys it. So, keep the head higher than the tube, always. Poor design in my opinion, but at least they warn you. Otherwise, it is a great invention--but a four star achievement only until they fix this shortcoming.

This thing is fantastic! For those who don't know, a gallon of water weighs over 8 lbs. I can barely lift a 3 gallon bottle but a 5? That's insane!

This is perfect for older people, small people, disabled people, anyone who does not or cannot deal with those big jugs.

This is really easy to set up. Take the plug out of the tube and twist the cap onto the jug. It comes with the adapter for electric use but there is a place for batteries which comes with a removable plate you have to put on. It even comes with a little cup for quick drinks.

The water pressure is really hard which surprised me but in a good way. It takes a second for the water to come out which gives you time to make sure your glass is there. I did not notice any dripping when I turned it off.

I think someone suggested a "pulse" button so you could get a short burst of water and I think that would be great.

The only downside, which is cosmetic is the color. Why in the world did they make this baby pink? Not that it is hard to deal with but what goes with pink? Why not black or white or beige?

Still there are only 2 electric pumps that I know of on the market and this one is much more aesthetically pleasing than the other one which is why I got it.

Do not hesitate to get this. You won't be sorry.
