5.0 out of 5 stars More of the same from Master Joss
Jam on, baby!

The prior reviewer was right: if you love "the Chris Joss sound" you will absolutely love this set that's in the same vein as the good MAN WITH A SUITCASE and DR. RHYTHM sets, and the phenomenal YOU'VE BEEN SPIKED set.

Groove-a-licious to the nth degree, TO is not a masterpiece like YOU'VE BEEN SPIKED but deserves 5 stars because...

3.0 out of 5 stars Chris Joss - Teraphonic Overdubs
More upbeat funk from Chris Joss on TERAPHONIC OVERDUBS, who loves his tracks psychedelic and full of life. "Magic Tubes" has a joyous little vocal chorus and a sitar that sneaks in right at the end, while "I Want Freedom" has a disco string section that's as slick as Vaseline. The Indian influence returns on "Count the Daisies" and "Atomic Tape," while "Get With It" has...

Groove-a-licious to the nth degree, TO is not a masterpiece like YOU'VE BEEN SPIKED but deserves 5 stars because it represents the best of this hard-to-categorize genre (at least that I've yet heard). Further, it's easily the best thing out of ESL within the past 12 months. And the album graphics are nicely done, with a mildly psychedelic effect that perfectly fits the song titles and sounds.

Well done!

Because this album will do it for you haha. Great new release, if you are into any of his past work, you will dig this album, hard. Best when listened to all the way through, the production is awesome and every track is unique and headbob-worthy. jam on!

4.0 out of 5 stars hip as hell, February 22, 2009
This review is from: Teraphonic Overdubs (Dig) (Audio CD)
I love this CD! It has a retro lounge vibe with a wackiness that is very listenable. very up beat and fun. If you like Tipsy, Old DJ dimitri from Paris, Nicola Conte, and Janpanese pop(it has a similar 60's esthetic).I think you would love it. It makes me want to drink a cocktail and dance on a Saarinen coffee table.

3.0 out of 5 stars Chris Joss - Teraphonic Overdubs, October 7, 2011
This review is from: Teraphonic Overdubs (Dig) (Audio CD)
More upbeat funk from Chris Joss on TERAPHONIC OVERDUBS, who loves his tracks psychedelic and full of life. "Magic Tubes" has a joyous little vocal chorus and a sitar that sneaks in right at the end, while "I Want Freedom" has a disco string section that's as slick as Vaseline. The Indian influence returns on "Count the Daisies" and "Atomic Tape," while "Get With It" has a theme that sounds like it's lifted right out of a Douglas Sirk melodrama set with a sleazy listening beat. "Jungle Dolls" offers a more Gary Glitter-inspired beat, and the melody of "Summer Springs" sounds achingly familiar, though I can't put my finger on it, and "Luna Rides Back" is essentially a reprise. "Surgelator Action" is more straightforward funk again. A quick, jaunty album, pleasing enough without too much of an aftertaste.
