4.0 out of 5 stars great am antenna!
I love this thing and am thinking of getting another for my cabin. I've had powered/amplified antennas in the past that don't work as well as the TERK does. it really pulls in the a.m stations and the ability to tune the antenna to the station helps temendously.

2.0 out of 5 stars unhappy loop user
I bought it to use on my new bose radio thinking it would help to bring more stations. but it never changed it at all.

This little product improves a.m. reception the way butter improves the flavor of oatmeal: a lot! Stations that come in with lots of static can often be made to sound clear, or at least listenable to, through the magic of placing the antenna close to the radio and then fine-tuning the antenna to match the particular station. I found that the antenna works best when the back of it, rather than the front which bears the word Terk, is placed next to or behind the radio.

This antenna improved my AM reception by 50% or more. Well worth the purchase. Please note that you may need to experiment with dialing in the freequency. Some stations are on or near the corresponding frequency setting on the antenna, others not so much. For example, to pick up the strongest signal for AM 850, I have to set the antenna at about 920. You may also need to experiment with the actual physical positioning of the unit. There really is not much you can do about atmospheric conditions, especially at night. A station's broadcast signal strength is what it is. Finally, I must point out that I have not tried this unit out on a portable radio, so my review may not apply to that situation. The two units I purchased are both connected to modular AM/FM reciever/amplifiers. In closing, if your an AM radio junkie like I am, this is a must-have product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Big improvement, January 8, 2010

I bought this to use with my Sangean PR-D7 and PR-D5 radios. While the AM reception is very good on both radios I wanted to see if I could improve on it. This antenna does the trick. It pulls in stations I couldn't get before and eliminates noise on the stations that were marginal before. Highly recommend.

This is small enough to toss in my luggage when going to the mountains or back home, and it really boosts the long-range stations. Bear in mind, it's better at looking for a known station than scanning for new ones (you have to tune it), but it gives you those long-range radio stations very easily. A great companion for a digital radio with poor AM reception...really boosts things. There are more powerful loops, like the Select-A-Tenna, but you can actually overload your radio with those sometimes, and they cost more. If you put this loop and your radio on the same book or board, turning for direction becomes easy. A real fun product for low-hassle late-night AM distance hunting. I use it with the $10 sony AM/FM pocket radio or the Grundig $30 digital pocket radio when travelling...the combo is a lot cheaper and smaller for the same performance than a single radio, and no long wires..it's great. As with all other AM gear, remember: turn off all dimmers, and find a corner away from PCs and other AM noise-makers. This is amazing out camping, away from house wires, or in your back yard.

I bought my new Cambridge i750 radio for my basement office. I get very little if any AM radio reception
for AM 890 in the Chicago area. Once I received the Antenna, I set it up next to the existing antenna that
came with the unit and positioned it. To my surprise I got great radio reception beyond what I expected.
I plan I getting one for my basement workshop. I would highly recommend this product.

Prior to using this antenna I couldn't get my station in the SF Bay Area from the Sierra foothills, about 120 miles (airway). Using this antenna, I can get decent reception during the day. It fades out at night. It's the opposite of what I would expect with night time skip. Easy to use, easy to set up. Looks good. Good price. I'll probably get another one for another radio in the house.

I am thrilled with the AM reception that I now receive with the help of this antenna. Unbelievable! It was easy to set up and the fine tuning dial on the antenna makes a world of difference. I live in Green Bay, WI and I'm listening to stations in Philly, Cincy, New York, Canada, Iowa, Minnesota etc. as if they were right next door. I can't wait for baseball season.
