5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, November 7, 2007
This review is from: Sirius Truck Mount Antenna (Electronics)
Installs easily to mirror bracket, even thicker pod mirror types. Also includes hardware to mount to 'wings' using a clamping piece with rubber feet. It appears that it would also work with any standard CB antenna bracket, though I haven't tried it.

Replaceable wire is a step up from the magnetic pucks, where you have to replace the entire unit if the wire is damaged. Easier to install when the wire is separate. The included wire is also more substantial than the super thin wires on the magnetic antenna.

Smaller magnetic antenna on the roof can have dropouts due to a 'sundial' effect when you are driving in certain directions, this moves the antenna away from the truck so you get an uninterrupted view of the satellite.

I broke my original magnetic roof mount by accident, not enough slack in the wire opening the door. Replaced with the low-profile unit which started going bad after ~6 months. Having both installed and being able to swap antenna plugs at the radio unit with the signal strength indicator showing, the difference was significant, 6/10 bars on low profile and 10/10 with truck antenna. Terrestrial repeater reception was also much improved.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sirius RadioTruck Antenna, February 10, 2009

My truck has a fiberglass roof and a large air dam that blocked the signal and with the fiberglass roof it made mounting the other antenna difficult. With the hockey puck style antenna my reception was fair at best and never went above 2 bars on the radio. With this antenna it rarely goes below three bars of signal strength (full signal) It was easy to mount & well constructed. I would recommend it highly

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Home Antenna, February 15, 2008
This review is from: Sirius Truck Mount Antenna (Electronics)
I purchased this Sirius antenna to mount outside on my house. It provides much better reception (no signal drop-out) than the small "hockey-puck" antennas. The mounting bracket and hardware made attachment along the roof-line easy. Its profile (on a short mast) keeps it above the roof and free from being covered with snow. I wish the cable was about 5 feet longer, but extension cables can be acquired. A great performing antenna for home, truck, or RV.

If you are looking for an XM/Sirius satellite radio antenna that REALLY works... look no more... you found it. After trying other antennas and being disappointed with the results, it took me awhile to try another antenna; this can get expensive. I decided to try this antenna based on all the 5 star ratings.

As soon as the antenna arrived I put it together and plugged it in. Here's the situation... My radio is in my basement. I have never been able to get ANY signal in my basement so I thought it would be a good place to see what kind of strength this antenna has.

WOW!!! I get a full strength signal on Terrestrial and Satellite is about half signal. I'm going to get another antenna for my motorcycle too.

This antenna is the "Cat's Meow". Dump the pucks and buy this antenna; you won't be disappointed.

A must if you have satellite radio and drive a truck. Those cheap magnetic ones will not hold up. I've had this one for a good while now and have had no problems with it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great antenna for truckers, December 17, 2009
This review is from: Sirius Truck Mount Antenna (Electronics)
I am a professional truck driver who gets into a different truck every day and I always take my Sirius radio with me. The antenna that came with the radio (hockey puck type) broke within a month from moving it around so much even though I was very careful with it. The thin wire broke right at the antenna itself and there was no way to repair it. It was also difficult keeping it in place on the truck's round mirror bracket. I tried taping it but if it was raining or icy the tape would not stick.

I figured it would be better to spend the extra money and get a beefy truck antenna instead of another hockey puck type that would probably break again. Boy did I make the right decision with this antenna. I have owned it for about a year now and couldn't be happier. It is very durable and I like the fact that the cable can be easily replaced without buying a whole new unit. Like I said before, I am always moving between trucks so this antenna has stood up to that sort of treatment. I have the antenna mounted to a pair of Vice-Grips that I use to quickly clamp to the mirror of the truck. The cable I just run between the door and the frame. I thought I would be replacing the cable by now, but after hundreds of door slams it is still in good shape. The cable is thicker than the one that comes with the hockey puck type, but it is very flexible. Some truck antennas I have seen come with a very thick cable that is almost as thick as the coax for cable television and I personally think that is too thick at least for my purposes.

I also use the antenna at home sometimes by propping it up outside. In any case reception is always very good except under some overpasses, but that is the limitation of the technology not really the fault of the antenna. If you move your radio around a lot, I highly recommend this antenna. It is great for large trucks and worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent antenna for 18-Wheeler Truckers, January 31, 2009
This review is from: Sirius Truck Mount Antenna (Electronics)
You'll get the best reception for your SIRIUS satellite radio. Much more powerful than the small antenna that comes with your SIRIUS radio. You can mount the antenna on the mirror bracket on the left or right side of the Tractor. You won't loose the signal unless you are under a bridge or the antenna does not have a clear path to the sky. Works well under hazardous weather conditions also.
