Pegs the Signal Meter All Day,

This review is from: Terk SIR6 Sirius Outdoor Home Antenna (Electronics)
The SIR-6 is a must-have for home listening. Our house has a lot of large trees that made getting a good signal with the standard antenna a real problem. With the SIR-6 the signal strength meter is at maximum all the time. I just attached the antenna to the facia board near the edge of the roof and ran the coaxial cable through a 7/16" hole drilled through a basement window frame. Then I ran the wire through a similar hole in the floor behind the entertainment center. You barely notice the antenna and the signal is perfect all the time. The unit also comes with U-bolts for attachment to an existing antenna mast or other pole. I found assembly, installation, and adjustment to be easy; Took me about an hour including getting the ladder out. Simple hand tools are required and I used a drill/driver to drive the four included wood screws. Standard coax staples (the ones used with TV cable) worked perfectly for attaching the wire neatly to the side of the house. The SIR-6 appears to be well made and should stand up to the weather. A rubber boot covers the outdoor connector so water shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you know if snow or ice is a problem. We use our satellite radio at home most of the time so a good signal is essential. With the SIR-6 installed there's never a problem. UPDATE: Snow and ice have not been a problem. With two storms so far (1 all snow, 1 snow and freezing rain) the reception has been perfect. The snow stuck right on top of the antenna and collected several inches thick and still no problem. This is definitely the way to go if you listen at home.

Pulls in Weak Signals,

Well now I'm a believer! At first I didn't think there was a difference between this TERK 6 and the antennas that come with your home kit or boombox (small folding black antena). BUT there is! This TERK antenna will pull in and "hold" that weak signal that goes to zero bars on the regular antenna. And keep in mind you can manuver the antenna. It can be used up and down, folded out, etc. Even in the house, prop it up with a large book or something, and it'll work MUCH better than the antenna that comes with your boombox! I don't know why Sirius does not advertise this also as an indoors antenna, but trust me, if you point it at the proper direction you'll get a signal for the radio to work! Don't forget extra 50" cables (if needed) (TERK SIR-EXT) where you can use up to 2 of them together to give you a total of 130 feet of cable for indoors or outdoors. AND if you have two receivers, there is no need to have another antenna. You can use one antenna and use a TERK SIR-SP antenna splitter and you NEED at least two TERK SIR-EXT (one for each line) and you can split one antenna for two receivers! I've been doing it. Just remember to stick with TERK products for everything together. And at Amazon price, you won't find it cheaper anywhere! AND shipping is INCLUDED!!! I've seen prices of this double of Amazons, and shipping was not included!

A definite improvement compared to the default antenna,

I bought this based on one of the reviews which stated that there was a difference in this compared to the stock antenna that comes with whatever receiver you buy. I was having a sporadic signal, no matter where I positioned the antenna. I would get a good signal for a few minutes, only to see it disconnect, no matter what fixed position I tried. Keep in mind, I was trying to position it on the window sill indoors! It also did not help that the angle/trajectory that I was attempting to point to in the sky was being blocked by part of my house. Although I was prepared to mount this product externally, I wanted continue being lazy and just maneuver it on the window sill. Thankfully, I'm getting a constant clear signal now, even though I placed the antenna indoors right against the window at a near vertical angle. This product makes it much easier, effortwise and timewise, to get a clear signal. It took me about 3 minutes of positioning compared to anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes with the default antenna (whose signal would die out anyhow).
