5.0 out of 5 stars Terminal Consent is a great read., August 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
"Michael Freeny skillfully weaves between several subplots as the story unfolds and the tension builds. The book highlights the dangers of financially driven medicine and the terrifying ease which people can use computer systems to invade our confidential files. Every time I see a Where's Waldo (or Wally as he's called in the UK) book in future I will be reminded of Terminal Consent - but you will have to read it to find out why!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great insider's view of technology gone awry, January 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
Freeny achieves a balance between writing to those with a primary interest in health care delivery but with no background in computing, and those who are highly computer literate but not necessarily aware of current issues in managed care. By appealing to both ends of this spectrum, he greatly expands the audience for this book. Readers, who fall somewhere in the middle of this continuum, will find his illustrations all too realistic and hauntingly familiar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right on book about healthcare gone crazy., May 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
I haven't "had time" to read fiction in about 10 years. I forgot how fun and enlightening it can be. Freeny does an amazing job of high-tech talk in human terms. And it's so true.

5.0 out of 5 stars Computer-assisted corporations become the new robber barrons, April 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
Michael Freeny, a Florida writer and chotherapist, provides a riveting insider's view of America's largest service industry - market driven health care. His is a chilling account of cybercare gone mad. Freeny notes at the beginning of his book that the technology described in the novel is currently available. Thus this book could also serve both doctors and the general public as a primer in the intricacies of the deceptive practices of managed care. Indeed, a note at the end of his book notes that 'Healthcare professionals may be eligible to earn continuing education credit for reading this book.'

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was GREAT! And you can ge CE credits, April 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
I couldn't believe how much fun I had getting smart. Freeny describes what it's like in healthcare today with keen insight. He makes clear the monster in healthcare we are all helping to build. Spread the word. I sent a copy to my senator to say, "Don't let this happen!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent and compelling medical thriller-expose', January 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
Terminal Consent smartly navigates us through the chillingly corrupt world of `Managed Care for profit' and the utilization of `confidential information'. Both issues in the courts today! Mr. Freeny's extensive and intimate knowledge of the health care profession, and it's technologies, is truly impressive. The book has fully developed and relatable characters, and is written with passion, sensitivity, and a wry sense of humor. Thanks for this compelling and alarming ride. A MUST READ!

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent, thought provoking, frightening and fun!, January 19, 1999
By
This review is from: Terminal Consent (Paperback)
A little slow to start, but hang in there - it's worth it! This book was well thought out and very well written. A fun roller-coaster ride in terms of excitement and at the same time REALLY makes you think about managed health care and that the technology that is used in this book, is actually already in place - very scary! I loved it and hope to see more from this author.
