3.0 out of 5 stars Creative concept, but a little heavy-handed
Jefferson Scott has presented a plausible future reality with an intriguing and believable plot. His attempts to include the characters' thoughts and motives fell flat more often than not, however. Once this aspect of his writing matures, his work will improve dramatically.

If you like a good story, with plenty to think about, great characters along with your action, you won't be dissapointed.

This review is from: Terminal Logic (Ethan Hamilton Technothrillers Trilogy #2) (Paperback)
When I began reading this book, primarily to sample the genre, I expected to become bogged down in technical details. What I didn't expect was that after the first couple of pages, I would be unable to stop until I had followed Ethan Hamilton and his family through a real crisis created in a virtual world.

The writing is crisp and refreshing, seasoned neatly with subtle humor. Never preachy, the Christian message shines through with clarity.

This was my first Jefferson Scott book. I look forward to reading the other two in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alarmingly plausible, great read!, January 19, 1999
This review is from: Terminal Logic (Ethan Hamilton Technothrillers Trilogy #2) (Paperback)
I picked this book up on a whim, then couldn't put it back down! If you are at all interested in what might be in store for us in the future, in regards to computers, this is a book that you HAVE to read. It is well written, and the characters seem to have real identites. After you read this one, check out the next one, Fatal Defect, equally as good. Well done Mr. Scott!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ethan Hamilton Techno-thrillers, February 21, 2003
This review is from: Terminal Logic (Ethan Hamilton Technothrillers Trilogy #2) (Paperback)
Jefferson Scott's techno-thriller trilogy is a great series, one which I would recommend to anyone. It is set in the near future, and is very inventive. The books are Christian in nature, but are not overly "preachy." An interesting aspect brought out in all three is the balance which can be found between faith with science. Most Christian books I have read are seriously lacking in depth. In some cases, they're downright "hokey." Not these books, though. They are well-written, they have good story lines, and they'll keep you turning pages until the end. And once you've read the last page, you'll be eager to get the next book in the series

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible journey, December 26, 2001

I think I'll forever be partial to Terminal Logic because it was the first of the three that I read. The plot is just as tight as the first book in the series, and (wonder of wonders) a fair amount of time has passed...giving the changes in scenery and character more credence.

Jefferson Scott tackles the problem of artificial intelligence nicely in this book. Ethan Hamilton and his family are back, along with Special Agent Mike Gillette, and a few other secondary characters from Virtu@lly Eliminated. There is a murderous avatar out on Globenet...bots are escaping into cyberspace...and out of their gameworlds. Only mahem can follow.

There is no shortage of action and movement, that's for sure. And during it all, the grace of God shines through. I've heard it said that the cover art for Terminal Logic is uninspired...well please, don't judge the book by its cover (even though I happen to _like_ the cover :) ; you'd be missing a treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first, December 22, 1999

"The encircling mountains now looked... more like the fangs of something immanently more medieval."

With a line like that, you know this book will take you places. Jefferson Scott once again creates new metaphors. The virtual reality world he crafts is consistent, logical, and satisfying, and with a writing talent far above the norm, he provides fiction for Christian readers that is fully as entertaining as mainstream bestselling technothrillers, but without the offensive junk we don't want. He has uncanny skill in developing tension and sustaining it to its last possible straining iteration, until it is resolved inevitably with a satisfying snap. In Terminal Logic, the stakes are high, the antagonist powerful, and the obstacles seemingly insurmountable-key ingredients for a good thriller, and Scott pulls it off well. His plotting and character development are more sophisticated in this, his second book, making it even more enjoyable than his first. Buy them both, along with the third in his series. Then write Multnomah Publishers asking them to get him back in front of the word processor.

Anyone who likes fast paced action is in the right place. Good for people who are into computers and VR, but you don't have to know them to enjoy the book. You'll be on the edge of your seat! It's great to be able to read an interesting book where the main characters have morals and don't have to indulge in a lot of swearing, ect. I can't wait to get my hands on his other book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting! Couldn't put it down!, December 12, 1998
This review is from: Terminal Logic (Ethan Hamilton Technothrillers Trilogy #2) (Paperback)
Virtual Reality, neural networks, AI computers that learn, and global connectivity are all elements of fact and not fiction. Take these concepts and evolve them by 10 years, throw in some suspense and a likeable family man as the hero. And put it in a language the average reader can understand...

Weave it together the way Jefferson Scott has done, and you have a gripping novel that makes the reader reach for the next Scott rendition.

Put it into movie form with Harrison Ford as the hero Ethan Hamilton, and you've got another blockbuster.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great science fiction thriller!, June 7, 1998

Working with computers, I take a critical look at how authors see computers are being used today, and could be used in the future. This guy has done an excellent job of keeping things realastic, but with a good view of where technology is going, and what could happen. Since I read his book, I have seen current news articles that could have been taken from these pages. Aside from all that, it is a great thriller, with characters that you can relate to. I have read his other book, "Terminal Logic" and hear he has another coming out soon. I will order as soon as available.
