Book Description

September 25, 2008
In TERMINAL NEGLECT, it's never a question of whether the HEALTH CLUB will kill.  It's only a matter of whether ANYONE is willing to risk sacrificing THEIR own life to dare to stop them!
A pharmaceutical "whistleblower" is murdered. Within hours, Health Commissioner, Dr. Jonathan Rogers is shot after interviewing with the President of the United States for the position of Surgeon General. Rogers awakens from surgery with a shocking medical finding and soon discovers that he's been targeted by a sinister cult known, inexplicably, as The Health Club. Who will be next to die?
Dr Jonathan Rogers is a crusading physician whose lifelong dream is to be appointed Surgeon General so that he can improve healthcare for all Americans. But, there is another "dream" lurking in any direction he turns....a nightmarish scheme by a ruthless club of top ranking governmental officials, corporate officers and even practicing physicians in key positions of authority. Unless their agenda is destroyed, this wicked crew will unleash a deadly drug upon an unsuspecting public.  Rogers is given a life or death ultimatum byThe Health Club.  Look the other way and he will achieve his dream at the expense of the tens of thousands of innocent patients who will die taking the blockbuster drug; or the doctor can choose to suffer the lethal wrath of the powerful, sinister, and far reaching Health Club.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Michael Rushnak is another John Grisham. TERMINAL NEGLECT is excellent.  Rushnak writes like Grisham, fast paced, flowing with characters, holding back the secrets to a huge mystery, and in doing so with a very human, easy-to-identify-with style. Buy the book. That's our recommendation. Then go enjoy." THE LINK BOOK REVIEW Long Branch NJ

TERMINAL NEGLECT is a white hot thriller, tightly plotted and full of terrific twists. This is one of the very best medical thrillers I have ever read not recently, EVER! Michael Rushnak's first novel hits with the force of a runaway freight train. The tension starts on page one and never lets up. I am so impressed. Michael Rushnak's imaginative, fast-paced thriller gave me paper cuts from turning the pages so rapidly. But then I was too wary to trust any doctor to fix them. This is one terrific read. The genre of medical suspense has been needing some new blood. We have found it in Michael Rushnak. I loved this book, and the friends I have turned onto it are loving it, too. --Michael Palmer

5.0 out of 5 stars "Greed is Good".....reading!, December 9, 2008
This review is from: Terminal Neglect (Hardcover)
"Terminal Neglect" is a classic medical thriller through and through, suspenseful and well written with characters that are so real that you almost feel like you are there with them.

Dr. Michael Rushnak brings us into the dark world of pharmaceuticals, politics and profits. As a physician myself, I appreciate realism in medical thrillers and this one was right on the money. "Terminal Neglect" captures what can happen when rogue industry giants are paired with corrupt politics.

The book is centered on Dr. Jonathan Rogers, state commissioner of health. His trouble begins shortly after he makes it clear that he is not willing to play ball with any politician willing write a legislative blank check to the pharmaceutical giants. The good doctor is shot, driven off the road and has his daughter kidnapped and the action doesn't end until the end.

I enjoyed the tightly written plot which was bathed realism. It would not have surprised me to have seen this story on 60 minutes. I can't wait to see where Michael Rushnak takes us next

I thoroughly enjoyed Terminal Neglect and couldn't help but see it play out in my head as a Hollywood blockbuster as I was reading. Excellent action, intrigue, great character development and plot twists. This would be one of those movies where you wouldn't dare leave to use the restroom! Excellent work, Dr. Rushnak -- Jean Holzer
