Solid, good ol' rock n' roll,

This review is from: Terminal Romance (Dig) (Audio CD)
"Tall Trees" and "Terminal Romance" are the two songs that stand out the most on this record. I'm glad he's experimented with his style a bit but am not the biggest fan of the punk beat drumming on a couple of the songs. Can't complain though cause Matt Mays really knows how to rock!

Heavier music, but as good as the old stuff,

This review is from: Terminal Romance (MP3 Download)
This album is distinctly a heavier rock (more "grunge") than Matt Mays' prior albums (which were more rock ballads). This change was foreshadowed somewhat in the When Angles Make Contact soundtrack. At first I wasn't too keen on this album, but it has really grown on me. And it really is just as good as his previous albums. A couple songs (like Rock Ranger Record) are very fast-paced, but there are still some songs with Mays' classic sound (like Terminal Romance and Long Since Gone). I think most Mays fans will be pleased with this album. It definitely illustrates that Mays is breaking out of his mold a little and experimenting with and refining his style.
