Terminator 3 :Rise of the Machines the movie has already extended the borders of the trilogy's universe more than we have known before ,it took the story in a completely new paths ,but in doing so the movie left some unanswered questions ,the fans of the series were racing to put theories to fill the gaps ,now the Terminator 3 The game has finally come to answer some of your questions .

First of all this game as we all know isn't the first game based on the legendary series ,many games appeared on older consoles and it's not even the first PS2 game features the mighty terminator ,the first game(Dawn Of Fate) was absolutely mediocre experience ,and beside that none of the previous games have featured the character of Arnold Schwarzenegger completed with face's features and voice ,now all of that is included in this new game ,promising to give a thrilling experience for both the series' fans and the gamers ,also the game features all the characters from the movie with their voice and features ,And the motion capturing technology provided here gives a feel of amazing realism ,The game also features an extensive cut scenes and there are some cinematic scenes filmed especially for the game .

The game itself is actually two games bundled in one ,The story follows the events of the movie very closely ,And a great feature here that the events is played according to the Terminator's (Arnie) point of view ,With the lovely red screen which scans the targets and collect primal and advanced information about them ,The game launches in a first person mode ,So you are guaranteed to blow up all the obstacles in front of you ,Ins some movie's scenes like the Cemetery Scene which is implemented in the game you will feel the thrill in destroying the police's vehicles but there are a very big different here ,Where in the movie we see Arnie insures that there are no human causalities in the battle ,In the game you will be given the option to make causalities or not ,depends on your respect for the human lives!

Other sections of the game will turn into third person view ,That's in the section where you meet some enemies like the Female Terminator X ,In this you will have the ability for hand fighting ,This will be repeated in various parts of the game ,Every one of them with different purpose ,Also there will be different weapons to accompany you during the journey ,Ranging from the ordinary guns to more advanced futuristic weapons ,All at your service!

As noted in this review's title there will be some questions which weren't answered in the movie and will be answered in the game ,Sort of interaction like the MATRIX game ,But here it's different because the game and the movie are not parallel ,They have the same story line but the game sheds the light on some dark spots in the series' world ,Including some questions about time travel which is a very vital element in the game because we see the terminator moves back and forth in the time's tunnels ,And that helps you to uncover the mysteries ,One final thing to note that the staff of the movie have been involved in some way or another with the game developer's to insure that the game is essential thing for the movie ,So it's guaranteed to give you the same look and feel of the movie and the series itself ,All of that promises a very huge adventure and enjoyable experience .

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh Yeah!, November 23, 2003

Finally a chance to be the Terminator! This is cool! I paid full price for this game, and I still think it was worth it - even though I see amazon.com is already giving $20 off now. I played from Friday night to Sunday night and beat the game on the Easy level. I enjoyed the destruction and the actual actors from the third movie doing the voices.

I don't see why gamespot's reviewers gave it such a low rating. I also can't figure out why some of the reviewers here say you can play as a human? Would someone please tell me how?

If you enjoyed the Terminator series and/or enjoy first person shooter games, you should give this one a try. Nice weapon selection - I finally got a chance to use a Phase Plasma Rifle (I assume it was a 40-watt range model).

Loved the movie, love the game. Their is so much mythology around the storyline of the Terminator movies, and with only 2 hours to blow up various computer factories and have some very wicked special effects, ethics and storyline is something you just can't have. We are not the matrix type movie that keeps talking and talking (Albeit then comes some crazy action). Yet, what we cannot get in the movie, we can get in the game. The game is a developed story for the mythology of the Terminator movies, and unlike it's extremely cool brothers, aka the movies, there can be as much room for storyline on a game as anything. The only limit is yourself. So buy this game, and have fun with it, because if you like a good all around action game, or simply love the idea of blowing the hard drives out of machines, or blowing the brains out of humans, (Yes, you can fight as the humans OR the machines)then get this game, because it rocks.

A beautiful game. Wonderful graphics, great gameplay, tons of weapons and missions, you have got to try this one!!! If you are a fan of the movies it is time to jump for joy. I love the terminator trilogy and I love this game. If you are a fan you have to try this out, you can go rent it or pick up a copy of your own. Massive levels make this game loads of fun and a variety of enemies, missions ,and weapons keep you guessing, not only that but in this game not all the enemies carry the same boring weapon like in other games. Their are enemies in the sky and on the ground to make this a top notch shooter now wipe the drool off your chin and go try it out.

Although not completely horrible--I did bother to finish the game, after all, although I "cheated" a bit, this game is a great disappointment. It could have been so much more. Contra mainstream opinions, I'm usually a big fan of movie tie-in games--they're often my favorites. But this is one case where I can painfully see the common criticism lobbed against these titles--Terminator 3 seems as if it were ridiculously rushed through production.

Almost all of this game is a first person shooter. The controls are completely non-intuitive. There's not much of a story. You basically go through a number of very simple maze-like environments and shoot Terminators and machinery/weapons. Most levels are just variations on the same thing, over and over. It's not that the game isn't challenging; as I mentioned, I had to employ cheats to complete it--invincibility and unlimited ammunition. But the challenge isn't what you'd like it to be. What makes the game so difficult is that (1) the controls are very difficult to get used to--it takes a long time to become acclimated to moving around the environments, firing weapons, and so on; and (2) the graphics are horrible--most of the game is way too dark, whenever you get close to anything all you can see is a blur, and you can very easily walk into walls and corners, so that if you turn around, you just get a black blur turning into a brown blur, with a white square blur over there, and so on. Meanwhile, there is an endless barrage of terminators and flying machines firing on you, so even if you can't see anything to find them, they'll quickly kill you and you have to start all over. I can't see how anyone could make it through this game without the invincibility cheat. It also doesn't help that mission objectives are relayed by a woman mumbling in a monotone voice, but thankfully they are also given to you in a text form.

Because it was so difficult to maneuver and see what I was doing, I had to routinely switch to my "map" screen. But the map screen takes a lot of the fun out of the game, as it shows you very easily where you are and just where you need to go. I'd walk a few yards in one direction, bump into a wall and see a bunch of blurry stuff, go to the map screen to figure out which way I was facing, go back to the main game screen, turn as necessary, and repeat. Most of the time when I got to the stuff I needed to get to in order to complete my next objective, I had little idea what I was attaining. I just new I had to go there because the map screen showed it, and once I got there, it said my objective was complete.

Maybe I'm not much of a fan of first-person shooters. I haven't played a lot of them yet, although I've played some. I don't remember them being as unpleasant to control as this game is.

The real crime, though, is that this could have been such a great game. During the boss fights, you get to play Arnold in a third person mode. That was already a great improvement. When the environments weren't so dark, and when they weren't just more variations on the anonymous post-apocalyptic wastelands that all look the same and just amount to a lot of mindless shooting where it doesn't matter which of the thirty guns you use, the game was actually pretty fun. I love the Terminator films, and I even liked the third installment--there was a story there that would have been fun to play in a third person mode. Some of the graphics work was done for a better game, as the cut scenes in 3D PlayStation graphics were far more entertaining, varied and engaging than the game (although a sign of being a rush job was present in later cut scenes just being film clips). I wanted to be doing those other tasks instead. They should have had you drive the crane through Los Angeles. They should have had some sections of the game that had puzzles instead of just shooting stuff level after level. There should have been some interaction with other characters. Even with the game design as it stood, it could have been much better with better graphics, lighting and control.

It's probably worth picking this game up if you're a huge Terminator or first-person shooter fan, as you should be able to get it very cheaply (as I did). At least with the cheats on, it was entertaining enough--and even occasionally fun--to work through the game once (although with the cheats on, you can do it in a few hours, but it's better than hour after hour of frustration without them). Just don't expect too much and try to not think too much about the game that could have been.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gonna Be Better Than The Last One, July 18, 2003
This review is from: Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines (Video Game)
I think this game is gonna be awsome. I didn't get the last terminator, but after comparing graphics I see that this one is gonna be a lot better. In the last one the graphics were choppy and you couldn't be a machine. In the new one, you can be both human and robot. You can also go to the future and fight future skinless T-800's or protect John Connor and fight the hot T-X. So, overall, I think this game is gonna do great and sell a lot of copies.

3.0 out of 5 stars Review quickie T3 on PS2, October 21, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines (Video Game)
If you haven't read my Terminator 3 movie review go look for my reviews in my profile. Terminator 3 the movie I don't like that much however I do like the game especially going through the 2032 levels there is a small problem the AI is usually pretty easy to take down it does hurt the game a little bit I know every mainstream reviewer gave it's a negative review but you see I'm not a mainstream reviewer I'm the kind of guy who will defend Robocop3 Alien 3 Alien Resurrection Escape from LA & Mortal Kombat Anhiliation. As in my T3 movie review I do go negative but I point out what I loved about the movie. Now this game isn't the best PS2 X BOX title hë** no not even the best Terminator game the good Terminator games are The Terminator on Sega CD Terminator & Terminator 2 the arcade game & if the game gives you any trouble there is cheats for it it's not great but I do like it. It's ok.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game Terminates all other games!, August 24, 2009
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines (Video Game)
All right. First thing's first: DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THE CRITICS SAY! This is a fun game! Anything the critics say is BS! Now that that's out of the way, it's time for the review.

This game is overall, fantastic! So here's how it's going to work. I'll list the game's pros and cons and then talk about the game itself. Okay?

Pros:

- Good gameplay
-Good graphics
-Great special features
-Good voice acting
-T3 Redemption demo rocks!

Cons:

-Too many flying things
-Terminators have to be pumped full of virtual lead
-Fliers are too quick
-Too many levels in future

Overall, the game is awesome! My copy didn't come with a manual, so I'll have to wing it here. I'm pretty sure that the game features Arnie's voice. The game is mostly composed of this: 85% first person combat, 15% third person hand to hand. I haven't finished the game, so don't call me inaccurate on this: I'm pretty sure a lot of the game is in the future. In it you get to play as two terminators: a Skynet Terminator, and good ol' Arnie. The special features are also amazing. WARNING! THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS A SPOILER! TURN BACK IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME YET! Special features include cg cutscenes, behind the scenes, bonus footage, the dvd trailer, and scenes from the T3 movie. And those are just the movies! There's also a T3:Redemption demo that's awesome, a whole bushel of pictures, and much more! Well that's about it! Hasta la vista!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, December 4, 2008
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines (Video Game)
The game tells the story of what happened "prior" to T3, so to speak, as well as fills in holes within the movie itself. The only problem is that there are some glitches, and sometimes it's impossible to shoot down the small, fast moving aerobots. The bonus features are very good as well.
