5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most original big movie soundtracks to be release
Be warned, this is not a traditional sounding soundtrack to say the least. The opening song of this cd is probably the most normal of the disc. I think it's safe to say it's the "terminator" theme.

I'll describe the entire soundtrack's overall feel to me in one paragraph -

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent score, "Trust me."
The theme for Terminator 2 is really good. The only bad part is that it is way underused. Instead, most of the music is mainly filler music that while supporting the action on screen, doesn't quite stand as an outstanding listening experience. Brad Fiedel, as in the first Terminator film, scores this one all on synthesizers for that futuristic and metallic sound. While...

Be warned, this is not a traditional sounding soundtrack to say the least. The opening song of this cd is probably the most normal of the disc. I think it's safe to say it's the "terminator" theme.

I'll describe the entire soundtrack's overall feel to me in one paragraph -

A mix of synthetic low atmospheric drones and squeeling sounds that combine to make menacing tones ( mainly used for the T-1000's music ). Eerie churchbell loops , synthetic snaredrum marching music with sampled cellos and live(?) dissonant horns. If you watch the movie and then listen to the soundtrack you'll like it alot better.

One of the best things I liked about the soundtrack though is that what I thought ( when I watched the movie ) were sound effects dubbed in were actually part of the soundtrack. Like the part where the terminator pulls the wheel out the T-1000's hand in the truck and it flips over the sound of the metal squeeling on the ground is actually part of the soundtrack! It's really amazing that such a bizzare and eerie soundtrack worked for this movie so well.

I give it 5 stars for it's originality and excellent continutity with the movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Capturing the mood of the apocalypse, July 17, 2000

With the scoring of the soundtrack to 'Terminator 2', Brad Fiedel gloriously succeeded in expanding, updating, and intensifying his original work in the first 'Terminator'. Almost all of the music from the first film was synthesizer tunes, and had a bit of that dated 80's pop/new-wave style to it. Even though the synthesizer is used extensively in the 'T2' soundtrack as well, it has a more timeless feel to it. Even most of the drums and percussion is performed this way. It's also performed in a military and/or industrial style, setting the mood of the movie perfectly. In many tracks, the percussion becomes the dominant section, which is a rare thing in soundtrack scores.

But, being one to find something wrong with anything and everything, I do have one little gripe about this release: where's the songs that were heard in the flick? All that's on the disc is the score. Dwight Yoakam's 'Guitars & Cadillacs', George Thorogood's 'Bad To The Bone', and Guns 'N' Roses's 'You Could Be Mine' are absent from this recording. I guess I'll just have to deal with it...

'Late...

Wooohhhh, this is an awesome soundtrack! Way to go Brad Fiedel. This one of my best soundtracks i have and i have alot. The theme alone makes it worth buying. But also the other tracks are cool, i can only recommend it to all Terminator-fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hasta La Vista old Terminator Soundtrack!, February 8, 2001

Ok Well I think this is one of the best soundtracks ever made! When I was in grade school I used to listen to this one the bus all the time. Eventually, the tape wore and I grew out of Terminator. But recently I have gotten into all sorts of soundtracks and this one brought me back to all the action and drama of this Early 90's masterpiece. However, my biggest complaint is the fact that the album does not include The Famous Chase Scene in the beginning of the film. (The One where John is on his Bike and the T1000 is trying to kill him in the L.A. drainage system, while Arnold tries to catch up.) To me that is the best part!!! You have an inkling of that on the cd but not the little mixes that you hear inside the movie, plus that sequence lasts much longer. Also they need to make publish music from the: Mall Scene, Terminator's Arrival and ofcourse the bands played in the film. In my opinion that would make Terminator 2: Judgement Day an untouchable soundtrack!!! Email me if you know where there is such a record.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing industrial soundtrack, October 16, 2002

This is simply a stunning soundtrack. Totally electronic and packed full of industrial sounds. i.e. stuff you would expect to hear in a steel works which totally sets the mood for the film.

All the tracks are pretty slow and kind of rumble along in a haunting kind of way. If your a fan of industrial or just enjoy electronic music like 'VNV nation', Covenant, etc... you will probably appreciate this album. This is a great CD to listen to as background music while chilling out or just surfing the web.

While some argue that this should have not have been an all electronic soundtrack, I say that this score suits the movie perfectly.

T2 was a state of the art 'eye candy' fest on its release back in 1991 and deserved the modern, cold and haunting soundtrack Brad Fiedel created.

Terminator films are not 'happy' films and this music suits the film perfectly in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great weird music !, May 25, 1999

This is one of my favourite CDs. There is no human voice on the whole piece. The very strong and sometimes weird sounding tracks resemble the moods of anxiety, anger, and terror in a genious way. If you want a CD that is different, buy this one ! AS

This is not only the best movie I have ever seen but also one of the best scores in my posession ! Brad Fiedel , one of the first composers who risked using electronical instrumentals and with success. Track 3 & 13 give you adrenaline shots over and over again. And track 1 & 20 give you goosebumps over and over again. Trust me when I say that this score is a must for every soundtrackcollector.

Why the HELL is this cd out of print????? Maybe they are remastering it who knows. But you have ALIENS, LABYRINTH, NEVERENDING STORY for christs sake, and all of those are still being made. How is this cd out of print???? I want a brand new copy.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent score, "Trust me.", March 13, 2003

The theme for Terminator 2 is really good. The only bad part is that it is way underused. Instead, most of the music is mainly filler music that while supporting the action on screen, doesn't quite stand as an outstanding listening experience. Brad Fiedel, as in the first Terminator film, scores this one all on synthesizers for that futuristic and metallic sound. While that is fine and dandy, and orchestra would have really added to the music. The 5 note thematic motif is found in "Main Title", a hint of it in "John and Dyson in the Vault", and the end track "It's Over". "Sarah on the Run" is a decent action cue with racing synth percussion. "Escape from the Hospital" utilizes the T-1000 sound, which is low droning noises on the synthesizer. "Sarah's Dream" is a schizophrenic cue with a lot of strange noises and funky synth sounds. "Trust Me" is a cool action cue with hard hitting metallic percussion. The rest of the music has really nothing that great worth mentioning, except the final track, "It's Over", which contains a different theme which is good, but it's the last track so that's it. Still, a decent 53 minutes worth of music (or noises in some cases) that is way, way better than the first score, which was terrible in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars T2 Music, November 24, 2000

The music is just so awesome. What else can I say? Brad Fiedel did his best on this CD. No other music in movies today will stand up to this AT ALL. The only part that stinks is that it is missing the Guns'n'Roses song, "You could be mine". But as long as it has its ultra-powerful main theme, it is a must-buy. It is all just thought provoking, and the main theme sports the perfect mood when you think about the apocalypse (not that I'm psycho to wish the world would end). Way to go!
