I am a big fan of the Terminator series as well as Timothy Zhan's Star Wars novel series.

And I am fairly certain that if there would have been the next book available in the series, then I would have started reading that one as well.

The character development was great for such a short novel with so much action and suspense.

Out of EVERY Terminator book I've read (And that encompasses T3/Terminator Dreams/Terminator Hunt and Terminator Salvation/From The Ashes/Cold War/), this is tops! Timothy Zahn takes off where 'Salvation' left off, and puts together a story that blows its predecessor out of the water. It's perhaps the best use of license and, dare I say, a perfect sequel to the movie. Not only does it quickly jump into the action, it carries several different themes and elements to keep you guessing, throw you off and shock you.

The war against the machines rages on...and The "Salvation" series of books is laying it out perfectly.

I was not sure what to expect when I decided to read this book. I am a big fan of the Terminator series as well as Timothy Zhan's Star Wars novel series. This is by far the best Terminator book out and one of the best Sci-fi books that I have ever read.
I don't want to spoil the story because it so well put together, but things start off with three separate plot arcs that eventually all come together in the end masterfully. The events take place right after the Terminator Salvation movie. All of the events and mood of the movie are carried over very smoothly to this book. There is a ton of intrigue, character development, suspense, and action. This is one of those stories that keeps you glued in from start to finish.
I would highly recommend this book. Timothy Zahn is on his game big time with this effort. Anyone who is a fan of science fiction in general should check this book out.

Well I am writing this review with only a couple of hours of sleep and I put the blame entirely on this new literary installment in the The Terminator series, originally created by James Cameron. I started this book the previous night around 11:00 pm and literally was unable to put it down. I told myself several times that I would just read a couple of more pages and then I would get some sleep, well 6:45 am rolled around and I finally did put the book down, after I had finished reading the entire thing. And I am fairly certain that if there would have been the next book available in the series, then I would have started reading that one as well. Although last weekend I did the same thing with Terminator Salvation: Cold War by Greg Cox, and I would highly recommend that you pick up that book as well.

This book flowed so well and literally picked up mere days after the end of the movie Terminator Salvation (Widescreen Edition) with Barnes and Blair being send back to the radar installation base where Marcus first appeared in order to bury Barnes' brother who was killed when the base was destroyed by Skynet. You also get a glimpse into the new TH or Theta project and some familiar Terminators and the reinforced fact that there are actual humans helping Skynet to eradicate other humans, something that was really alluded to in the films.

Having read Zahn's "From the Ashes," I was really excited to see another Terminator book written by this author. However, I was a bit disappointed. Hoping for a tight plot and intense action, I got a decent main story but a lackluster subplot. Character development barely exists, although that really didn't bother me. I was also not expecting it from an action novel.

What bothered me the most about this book probably had little to do with the author and more with his editors and publishing staff. For a traditionally released book, this looked more like an indie embarrassment. I found numerous typos, perspective shifts that weren't clearly marked, and chapter endings that seemed to roll into the beginning of the next one. From the looks of it, this book was written and published in a hurry. Given Zahn's extensive selection of novels and short stories, I doubt he had much time to write this one.

If you're a fan of the Terminator series, then you'll probably find the book enjoyable. If not, I would bypass this one and go for "From the Ashes" or "Cold War."

The third book of a trilogy that inserts the film in the middle. The events of Terminator Salvation lead to some characters getting into their own adventures against Skynet.

We have an isolated small town hiding from Skynet, two of John Connor's people landing near by in a helicopter, and a lone man headed that way with a Terminator on his trail.

Zahn captures the flavor of his characters nicely.
