Fantastic plot, wonderful characters, October 3, 2009

Wow. This is one great story.
Lindsay - not her real name - has been on the run for years - on the run for her life. She is being hunted down, and has a very good reason not to put her trust in the police again. But she's going to have to learn to trust someone eventually. Especially as her past has finally caught up with her.
Kylie Brant's Silhouette novels are above and beyond what you would expect - she also writes longer romantic suspense, and has proven herself just as competent in that field. Her characterisation is always interesting, and you never quite know what directions she'll take you in before the conclusion of her story.
This has to be one of my favourite romantic suspense stories. The leading couple are so great - definitely one of my favourite fictional couples. Brant manages to pack so much into this fantastic book.

Just Amazing, August 8, 2009

I discovered Kylie Brant recently through a short story (Captured Hearts, which can be purchased very cheaply online, and is well worth your time), and I have been hooked ever since.
I read a lot of romantic suspense, and this is definitely one of the best.
Terms of Engagement is packed full of so many twists and turns, and so many wonderful characters, that I don't even know where to begin. The emotion in this story feels real, and the characters are at the same time flawed and absolutely incredible - I'm not going to forget them.
Lindsay has more secrets than Jack could ever believe. She has been on the run for three years, never getting close to anyone because she knows any kind of relationship would be a death sentence for the other person.
So when she finds herself caught up in a hostage situation and images of her are broadcast on national television, she knows she has to run - again. But police officer Jack will not let that happen, not this time.
The complexity of the situation - of Lindsay's desperate attempts to flee and Jack's desperate attempts to stop her and get to the bottom of this to finally free Lindsay from the hell she's been living in - is wound together with such skill I found myself constantly amazed at Brant's talent. There are few characters I've ever liked as much as the hero and heroine of this book.
Brant's other novels in the series are well worth a read too. She never has cookie cutter characters, and the quality of her work is so far above what you would expect of a Silhouette romance it seems ridiculous her books have not hit the mainstream.
Just buy this book. You will not regret it.
