Nick Vega and Slany Breeze are the star employees at the advertising company they work for. Too bad they can't stand to be in the same room together for more than two minutes...Slany can't deny the way she feels when she is near Nick, or when she just thinks about him, for that matter! But she can hide those feelings from Nick - or so she keeps telling herself. She's always been in control of everything; she has had to be. But there is a submissive inside her that yearns to let it all go with Nick Vega... Nick isn't cut out for long-term relationships, never has been. When he recognizes Slany's submissive nature, the long-denied Dominant in him rears its head, and clamors for more. But Nick is just looking for a fling - until a stalker threatens Slany's life, and Nick realizes she is more than a passing attraction, she is his very life. Gracie C. McKeever's The Matchmaker series is one that mere blurbs could never do justice to - you won't really understand how compelling the stories are until you start reading one of them. The second in this series, Terms of Surrender is no different in this way from the first. The synopsis for the story is interesting, even intriguing, but once you begin reading the book itself, the characters leap off the pages, immediately befriending you. McKeever deftly breeds empathy for their pain, their dreams, their every emotion from the very first chapter until the end of the book. With Terms of Surrender she also proves once again that she can write a snaky plot with the best of them - the story is fraught with more twists than a coiled-up Copperhead... Indeed, the author succeeded in keeping me guessing all through the story, and just when I thought I'd figured out who the villain was, she surprised me again - much to my delight! In just two months, Gracie C. McKeever has moved up my list of favorite authors, with The Matchmaker series in particular being a favorite of mine. I cannot recommend this book or this series strongly enough! Series Order: Beneath the Surface: The Matchmaker, Book 1 Terms of Surrender: The Matchmaker 2 Manifest Destiny [The Matchmaker 3] (Siren Publishing) Connected Story: Spells Cast in Shadows (This book is not part of The Matchmaker series, but contains crossover characters from 'Manifest Destiny'. While 'Manifest Destiny' can be easily comprehended and enjoyed without reading 'Spells Cast in Shadows', the story in 'Manifest Destiny' will be greatly enhanced by reading 'Spells Cast in Shadows' first.)

Terms of Surrender,
This review is from: Terms of Surrender: The Matchmaker 2 (Paperback)
With the success of his younger brother's marriage, Nick Vega knows his sister is up to her matchmaking ways and out to get him. Yet her choice, Slany Breeze, is not someone Nick would choose for himself. Although she's beautiful, she's not his usual type. Still, once he discovers her submissive nature and her budding curiosity, the dominant in Nick comes to the surface and begins to introduce Slany to the lifestyle they both crave.Outwardly, Slany is a strong woman, caring for her younger siblings after her mother's death and succeeding in a male-dominated career. Inwardly, Slany wants someone to take control and give her what she needs sexually and emotionally. When Nick begins pursuing her, it's like a dream come true yet one she can hardly believe is real. Can she give in to her true nature and trust him enough to take care of her, especially when a killer from Nick's past begins stalking her? Gracie McKeever's Terms of Surrender is a suspense filled, complex tale of the Dominant/submissive world. Nick and Slany get a little push from Nick's sister, and admitted matchmaker, Angela Calminetti before they finally realize they are perfect for each other. Both are searching for the other half that makes them whole, while unknown to them a killer lurks, waiting for the perfect opportunity to snatch Slany and force her to become his slave. The glimpse into the killer's mind is both frightening and fascinating. Terms of Surrender is a well paced, well developed story that will grab your attention from the beginning and keep it until the very end. Georgia reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

You Belong to Me,
This review is from: Terms of Surrender: The Matchmaker 2 (Paperback)
How willing are you to admit to being submissive to a stranger, who sets your body on fire? Can you succumb to the urges of your loins? Gracie McKeever's Terms of Surrender, book two in The Matchmaker series, includes these issues and more. There is mystery, drama, suspense, and hot and steamy sex.Nick Vega is the brother to Angela Calminetti, self proclaimed matchmaker, who takes it upon herself to match each one of her unwedded siblings with their soul-mate. Nick is not very receptive of this, but that does not stop him from being drawn to Slany Breeze. Slany was treated terrible by her ex-boyfriend for telling her secret desires of wanting to be controlled in the bedroom. Nick is no stranger to the lifestyle of domination and submission, as he was introduced to this world, by a former girlfriend, during his college years. Although when Slany encounters Nick, it is just so difficult, at first, for her to succumb to him. But, she just cannot think clearly when it comes to the Italian stallion. She has not been sexually involved with anyone for so long that just hearing Nick's voice would sends her juices running wild. A stalker lurks from Nick's past. He knows of Slany's submissiveness and wants her for himself, and will not stop until he gets her. Will Nick be able to save the woman that is making him feel things that he has never felt before? Ms. McKeever does a good job at creating powerful characters that are attention-getters. The storyline was very interesting and kept me engaged from page one to the last page. The suspense is what held me more than anything else. I wanted to know who it was, and could not get to it fast enough. There were some editing oversights. One thing that I found most annoying was the usage of "D/s" throughout the book. When it was first used, I had no clue what it meant. As I read on I figured it out, but just spelling out dominant and submissive would have been much better. Outside of those few things this was overall a very interesting story. It is book two, and it makes me wonder what happened in book one. Do not worry if you did not read the first book; this story is written in a way that you can read it like a stand-alone book. You will not feel as if you are missing anything. I would recommend this to anyone interested in mysteries, suspense, and/or paranormal romance novels. Jennifer Coissiere APOOO BookClub |
