Disillusioned
Following on the heels of Illusion, indie sensation and New York Times best-selling author J.S. Cooper brings us the second novel in the Swept Away series, a trilogy of dark and sexy romances about a woman marooned on an island with a man who may be her captor.

Book Description

"I SWEAR, MISS CANTRELL, YOU WOULD TRY THE EVERLOVIN' PATIENCE OF A SAINT!"

Deputy Game Warden Bram Killoran is certainly no saint, and he has wanted headstrong Kinley Cantrell since the day he first saw her outside Crowheart's Paradise Saloon - backing a burly drunk three times her size up against a hitching rail and giving him a truly inspired and colorful upbraiding for mistreating his horse.

Kinley's determination to defend herself and the animals she loves will make her Bram's unlikely ally. They are irresistibly drawn to one another, but when her passion and spirit clash with his tangled conflict of duty and desire, not only their hearts will be in danger, but their very lives as well.

Tender and touching, full of drama and detail, TERMS OF TEMPTATION has been awarded READERS' FAVORITE 5 STARS. It continues the lives and loves of the Cantrell and Devlin families, following the best-selling TERMS OF SURRENDER and TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A beautiful story about life on a ranch, love of family, love for the wild, and a challenging love between two people. You...want to keep reading because...the plot is so skillfully put together and because you can easily relate to and connect with the characters." ~ F. Nassozi, Readers' Favorite
*
"With her distinctive writing style, Ms. Farrelly brings the colorful characters to life. The reader will laugh and cry along with family..." ~ Jada Ryker, Author of the TAKES A DARE series
*
"Horses, strong men, conflicts, and adventures...a daily part of western life at the turn of the century...make the reader long for that simpler time...Passionate, emotional, adventurous, TERMS OF TEMPTATION is an adventure in romance that will hold the reader spellbound..." ~ B. Howard, Readers' Favorite
*
"A delight to read...The way Farrelly writes her characters makes it quite an amazing page-turner!" ~ D. Pinzon, Readers' Favorite
*
TERMS OF TEMPTATION "is about more than romance alone ... (there are) abandonment and recovery, tension and release, and the problems created by a man just trying to do his job and a girl who loves animals above all else in life. You'll just have to read all three books to discover for yourself how different they are - and how their final linked exploration proves satisfying. Highly recommended for any who want interconnected yet separate plots, passions, and interests; especially those who want their trilogies to stand strongly both singly and as a unit." ~ D. Donovan, eBook Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
*
"An engaging romance ... with a twist of the paranormal ... I loved the tension between the two (main) characters ... a fun and enjoyable read." ~ Christine Blackthorn, The Romance Reviews

From the Inside Flap

Bram Killoran knew what people said about the tempting Kinley Cantrell:
That crazy Cantrell girl's at it again....
Well, can't say she don't have some grit....
Good thing her brother Ted was here, 'cause drunk as he is, ol' Purvis mighta got in a lucky swing an' fair killed her....
Dunno, reckon that little bit of a thing mighta killed Purvis first, feisty as she is....
Well, I declare, she isn't a bit like that sweet little twin of hers - and doesn't that give a body pause....
My oldest boy, Wesley, escorted her to the Harvest Dance last fall, don't you know, but turned out she spent the whole time bending his poor ear about bighorn sheep - or maybe it was muskrats or weasels or some other such nonsense, but can you even imagine...?
Heard she's got pens full of grizzly cubs and wolves up at that menagerie of hers, boxes full of rattlers, too....
Ya ask me, Cap'n an' Miz Cantrell oughta lock that one up an' throw away the goldurn key....

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful balance between action and romance February 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
With a hero and a heroine who act first and both think and speak later, this was bound to be an interesting ride. There's plenty of action (okay, the clothed and unclothed kind, to be fair, though I was mostly referring to the former), interspersed with romance - but not the hearts and flowers sort of romance.

Bram's a rough bloke with a good heart - and that's precisely how Farrelly portrays him through his thoughts, words and actions. He's not comparing Kinley's face to a fine wine - but when the Winchesters and bowie knives come out, he's definitely the man you'd want to have around.

"He finally knew what love was. It was this small, spirited woman who both challenged and delighted him, and who brought light into all the shadowed recesses of his soul."

Not poetry, but still pretty - and realistic, too. That's how I'd describe the relationship between Bram and Kinley in this book. Whether he wins said spirited woman is anyone's guess...and I'll give you no spoilers.

Kinley's more than a little crazy. From the toddler you're introduced to in the second book of this series, Terms of Engagement, to the capable young woman in Terms of Temptation, you know she's going to get into trouble and then cause more trouble, all in the name of good intentions, and it could well end in violence. What I find funny is that she doesn't wait for rescue, but because of the protective nature of the men around her (her extended family, mostly), they step in anyway before she needs to ask for help. I'm not sure she'd ask for it, either...

Yes, it's a long review. Yes, that's why this book is getting five stars from me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Barbara February 7, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well I don't know which book I liked the best! They were all just so wonderful. The love that was generated, not only between the hero and herrione, but also amongst the family members. It was so touching! And Gavin, the deceased younger brother to Michael, who died in the civil war, was just the greatest! He showed up every time when he was needed. This last time when he appeared in front of Bram, who was not a blood relative, and held his and Kinnies baby girl, that was just the saddest but happiest moment. Come to think about it, I guess he appeared in front of Rob, who was not blood related either. These are all great stories. I wish there was a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly Enjoyable January 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
************
Contents: Some murderous mayhem, a few sex scenes, minimal or no cursing, a few typos
************

I gave book 1 in this series a bare 4 stars, but this one is almost a perfect 5. Wow. What a great book! This one has it all: coherent plot, clear setting, credible dialogue and slang (for 1903, Wyoming), textured primary and secondary characters, humor, pathos, villainy and murderous mayhem (but not too much), authentic adolescents, adorable baby wild animals, and a few profoundly moving scenes involving the family ghost, or guardian angel.

Oh, and a few sizzling love scenes. I think three of them. Fairly explicit. Quite emotional.

The writing is solid. No long drawn out misunderstandings, because Kinley always asks Bram what's wrong. She doesn't leap to conclusions. Bram is a bit of a blockhead about emotions due to his childhood, and that gets old, but in the end, he gets it right.

Minor quibbles: I think the author may have messed up the dates. Because of some contradicting text, I couldn't figure out exactly how old Kinley was in 1903, when the bulk of the story took place. No biggie. Also, the wedding chapter had me a bit confused, trying to remember who all the extended family and guests were. But not a big deal, and my bad, for skipping book 2 (and I enjoyed the lighthearted wedding reception scenes anyway). Finally, Bram's emotional block. I wanted to shake him sometimes, but yet I understood. Sort of.

This is book 3 of the Terms series. Michael and Annie, Robert and Tess, the boys Mike and Bobby -- basically the whole family shows up for the series finale (or will there be more sequels?). I thought book 1 (

5.0 out of 5 stars Lorrie Farrelly once again delivers the magic June 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Terms of Surrender was the first in this series and I was impressed by the story, quality of writing and depth of characters. The second novel Terms of Engagement focused on Robert Devlin and was also good, but not quite up there with the first. In this third novel Terms of Temptation I feel that Lorrie Farrelly once again delivers the magic.

Bram Killoran is a man of integrity who feels that he is best alone, believing himself incapable of love and staying in any one place. His childhood left him with the conviction that nothing good can last.

Kinley Cantrell cares deeply for all of the wounded animals she takes in, a habit that started at a very early age and is now the centre of her life. She is drawn to wildlife warden Bram, but regards him only as a good friend until circumstances throw them together and discovers that she feels and wants more.

The story centres around them and the development of their relationship against a backdrop of poachers and criminals with plenty of action to keep the story moving without losing focus.

The characters from the last books also appear, especially the wonderful Michael Cantrell and Annie, in some ways so very similar to the younger Bram and Kinley.
