Great Product -- BUT know what they are for,
By
This review is from: Teroforma Whisky Stones (Kitchen)
A quick primer because the other reviewer seems confused. These are NOT ice cubes. They have one very specific purpose, putting a SLIGHT chill on straight whiskey to allow some of the flavors to open up and take some of the edge off the Bourbon/Scotch. Hence there is no reason for a child to be using them. Additionally as for hitting them your teeth, again these are not ice cubes and if you are chugging your whiskey, well good on yah mate but these is not for you.
My girlfriend bought me these because I like to enjoy a Bourbon after work. After putting 3 stones in a glass and waiting, the stones put a slight chill on the Bourbon. They didn't cool the whiskey down so much as to subdue the flavor. It just chilled it some to take the edge the off and made a very pleasant drink, not watered down. I recommend this if you have someone who enjoys a good glass whiskey straight. Very happy with them!

Good for the design purpose, but not for general use,

As other reviewers have noted, these are meant to chill whiskey stored at room temperature only slightly, to help suppress the ethanol aroma and make the drink smoother and more pleasant. If you often drink whiskey straight, you'll probably appreciate this effect; if you drink your whiskey on the rocks or in mixed drinks, these probably won't do anything for you.
I will say, however, that the effect is just as useful on other sipping liquors; I've used these with vodkas, gins, and tequilas with success. Just don't expect them to be ice cubes; if you want your drink freezing cold, put it in the freezer.

Buyer Beware, Important Information,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Teroforma Whisky Stones (Kitchen)
Not saying these stones are bad or good...just be careful who you purchase from. After buying from Syntex Wholesale, I found out these were not the Teroforma Whisky Stones that I was trying to buy, but in fact random generic whisky stones. I have bought Teroforma whisky rocks before, however when I bought these to give as a gift I found these were not Teroforma. The packaging looks like it was printed in some guy's basement. You would be embarrassed if you gave this as a gift to someone, and your credit card would be embarrassed if you spent $19.50 on them. Some selected gems from the writing on the box:-"Who need ice ?" -"Dimension: 2 x 2 x 2 cm." (this should be a good indication of where the stones came from). -"Cut from recycled soap stone or granite." (Having bought a set of whisky stones from Teroforma, I know that they come from they come from a soapstone mill in Vermont. And they don't mix granite in them). -"Georeous eco-friendly gift wrapping." (The gift wrapping is far from georeous, let me tell you). -"Set includes nine whiskey stones, come complete with a muslin storage pouch." (Maybe I'm being a stickler for spelling errors, but I just spent 19.50 on these things). Anyways, I see that the manufacturer has actually been changed to Teraforma, rather then Teroforma, which is the American company I had purchased whisky rocks from before. Also all the pictures of the packaging have been removed except for the small picture before you click on the link for the item. So maybe this is just a random poorly packaged listing now. Like I said, buyer beware....

My husband is a whiskey enthusiast and he LOVES these whiskey stones. They do just what they're supposed to by gently chilling the whiskey without watering it down. Cheers!

Great way to lower the temp of your whisky. By about 1°.,
By
This review is from: Teroforma Whisky Stones (Kitchen)
Yes, I'm aware they aren't designed to do the job of ice cubes. Teroforma Whisky Stones are designed to ever so slightly (but not imperceptibly!) lower the temperature of your 74° Scotch to a significantly more enjoyable 72.5°. Or something. Anyway, according to the reviewers with tongues of mercury, they do a great job of that! So if you're the kinda pipe-smoking sport who can tell the difference, then hooray for you, Professor Tweedbeard. Here's your $20 rocks.
On the other hand, here are some other things you might consider trying for the same results, a few of which might even be detectable by average humans. - A glass that has been in the fridge for 1 minute - Blowing slightly on the inside of your glass - Placing your bottle of Scotch in the freezer, closing the door, then opening the door and taking it back out again - Lowering the A.C. in your house (may take longer) - Not storing your MacCallan 18 in a warm place like your orchid house, sauna, or indoor conservatory - Getting "common" rocks out of your yard, rinsing them off, putting them in the freezer, taking them out, throwing them back in the yard and using some icecubes.

Awesome,

My girlfriend got these for me for my birthday, and I absolutely love them. I kept forgetting to get a set, but she being the awesome person that she is, took care of the problem for me.
The rocks are almost soft and silky smooth in texture. They are wonderful to just hold - I've never felt a piece of rock which feels like this. I rinsed them off and put them in the freezer, and 3 hours later they were ready. They give just the right amount of chill to your scotch, and the result is absolutely wonderful. I mean, who in their right mind wants to put ice in a glass of Glenfiddich 18 year old single malt? These are for you. The rocks are not dangerous. They won't tip in your mouth. They won't chip your teeth or your glass, unless you're acting like a barbarian about it. If you are you should not be sipping scotch, sorry. I love these so much. A perfect and thoughtful gift from my perfect and thoughtful woman. 5 stars.

Neat...it's Neat....not Straight.,
This review is from: Teroforma Whisky Stones (Kitchen)
While the majority of the reviewers seem to grasp the idea and principle behind the whisky stones, some are left bewildered. That's fine, that just means you bought a product that you didn't know anything about, without reading up on it first. But, I'm just here to throw out a simple term, that you all should know, before purchasing such an item: Neat. If you go to 90% of bartenders and ask for a whisky neat, then you'll get 1 or 2 fingers (whichever you state to the tender) with no ice, just a glass and your spirit. These stones enable you to get your spirit NEAT and slightly chilled, without compromising taste. That is all.

Great Gift,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Teroforma Whisky Stones (Kitchen)
They are perfect for what they claim...taking the edge off the whiskey. I use them with single malt scotch with a splash and it takes it to a new level of enjoyment. If you're a poser or a rookie you won't appreciate them. For those that are worried about their teeth, go back to your wine coolers. A good whiskey is to be sipped, often, and treated with respect.

We bought these as a gift for our son who loves a good whiskey or Scotch. They performed just as described and as they were intended: a slight cooling effect. Now my husband wants some. Can't do better than that!

Ice, hold the water,
By
This review is from: Teroforma Whisky Stones (Kitchen)
For a good whiskey, this provides a little chill without any more water than is desired. As soon as I saw it (actually at a local museum), I had to have it. If you are looking for ice cold whiskey, this is not the product for you -- and keep away from my good stuff!
